The Winter Soldier What was on Cap's catch-up list?

Maybe on different missions with the STRIKE team all over the world.

There is no real need to think about it deeply. It's just a nod to the viewers in each specific country or continent.

I'm glad we got the standard list where I watched it. Makes no sense to have a list specific for a country he's not only not from, but also doesn't live in. Where would he have gotten those recommendations?

Erm.... A fan of The Beatles or Sean Connery maybe....

Nonsense, it was a clever bit that gave the audience something to grab onto.

I think the fact that he has to write down even banal things like skippy shows how disconnected with the world he really is.

Plus, what else is he going to want to know about australia? Ashes cups and racist Howard era policies?

It's used as a gag but when you think about it it doesn't make a hell of a lot of sense to do localized lists.

Yeah, because no-one in America likes or has even heard of AC/DC, The Beatles, Doctor Who, Sean Connery, etc.

I guess they could have done a gag where he's in some other country, and we see his updated list. But yeah.

Maybe mix some of it (imply that he's been traveling a lot).

But otherwise, it doesn't make sense.

Well it's more for the audiences recognition. I don't think he needs to change his list whenever he flies somewhere new

I assume that person was probably talking more so about things like the World Cup stuff. I mean, Americans don't care about soccer.

there's a different list for each country wth??

that seems so unnecessary

I can't believe all you americans are crying about it...

I can confirm that the Canadian version (unsurprisingly) didn't add any changes to his catch-up list.

I loved the list.:woot:

But agree it's beyond dumb to change it for every market.:oldrazz:

People complaining about this need to surgically remove the bugs from their asses.

These are the important questions...

What harm does it do? None

Does it make people chuckle in recognition? Yes

What is the problem then? There isn't one unless you're a missog who doesn't like fun.

Relax chief.

It's just plain stupid for a guy that lives in America, taking advice from people in America and is freakin named Captain America to have a list with other countries noteworthy events taking prominence.

It's not a big deal,but it doesn't make a lick of sense.

I'm relaxed, my tongue was in my cheek :D

But again, who cares if it doesn't make a lick of sense? It's just a fun nod to the people watching it in the cinema so they can have a chuckle and not feel alienated by a film called Captain AMERICA.

Cap spent a lot of time in the UK in the first film. His "best gal" is English. He was fighting in Italy which is where the UK launched the southern invasion of Europe from Africa.

It's quite possible he picked up a few European sensibilities, and from a British perspective at that. Or Peggy just recommended things to him.

As for the other lists, they can be rationalised with Steve being on plenty worldwide missions.
