First "Prey" - then "Sphere" - good choices, man - Michael Crichton rocks - "Sphere" is definitely one of his best. Might I also (in case you haven't read these already) suggest "Timeline" and "Jurassic Park"? Also, the aforementioned duo of Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child write books in a very similar vein as Michael Crichton (sci-fi adventure) - "The Ice Limit" and "The Cabinet of Curiosities" are EXCELLENT. Definitely recommended for anyone who enjoys Michael Crichton's stuff.

I liked Micahel Crichton before he really overdid his "@$$hole character" in his more recent books. (For those of you who don't read Crichton, there's a character in there that I call the "@$$hole character, because this character likes to be difficult, problematic, or outright snotty for whatever reason. Lately, they've gotten so bad it's a little annoying)

In entirety? The Moon is Down by Steinbeck. It's very short, but the history behind it is interesting. And it's the first time I haven't wanted to murder Johnny.

Otherwise, the Bible. Specifically, Genesis. I've read it many times already, and there's one thing the Old Testament makes very clear - God is a jackass. He's got a nice streak in there, but mostly, he's a mysterious ass.

It's kind of interesting, it's just philosophy on war, so if you're into that kind of thing I'd say check it out.

Read The Mystery of Creation by Watchman Nee, trust me. It explains science and the possibility of the earth being millions of years old, and stuff.

Trust me, it follows the ORIGINAL manuscripts, it's wonderful.
