Assassination Nation

Uh... yeah. This was batsh** insane and in not in the way they intended (for the most part). The movie makes it clear from the jump that it's not taking itself seriously and is being extremely exaggerated. This is a satire on internet lynch mobs and apparently has a pro feminist message, but it's never really clear. It keeps going around in circles on the message it wants to give. This really wants to be Natural Born Killers meets The Purge ...meets Spring Breakers, but it never really come together. It's an ugly look at humanity and for that it delivers.

Jurrasic World: Fallen Kingdom

Ugh, that was the absolute worst dinosaur movie. Everything about it was softcore torture porn aimed at dinosaurs and just to be a gigantic ******* to the fans who enjoyed the franchise up until then.

Jurassic World had its problems but this one is just a problem. So glad I never went to see it in the theater and definitely not buying it.

Directly after that was Ocean's 8 which was nice. It felt cliched and boring at times but it was overall a decent movie. I'm just waiting for Ocean's Avengers in a few years where Danny and Debbie team up to do the ultimate heist with their teams. :p

La femme la plus assassinée du monde / The Most Assassinated Woman in the World (2018)
Sulla mia pelle / On My Skin (2018)
Gong fu yu jia / Kung Fu Yoga (2017)
Campus Man (1987)

TDT would need a Jackson level of production time dedicated to it to befit it properly and allow the director the free-will to correctly translate the text and themes and be allowed a certificate rating that allowed for the 'meat & potatoes' of it all. I have no idea what the 'aim' of the Elba / McConaughey effort was.

The Wolverine

Logan and Yukio are such an entertaining duo.

THE USUAL SUSPECTS
Quality = 9/10
Joy = 6/10

Don't let the gif trick you into thinking it's comedy if you haven't seen it, it's far from being one.
I'll be sure to list this in the thread of great movies that are not rewatchable, but the main theme is nice.
And look, a young Benicio Del Toro.

I'm not generally a fan of musicals but I love that film :up:

:) Yeah, I thought they did a really good job with it, and I watched it this time around with subtitles on to catch all the lyrics and I found that really helped clear up some of the lines that go by really fast, and the ones that are in Spanish. They nailed the period look, and it was well cast, particularly Antonio Banderas and Jonathan Pryce. I thought Madonna was very good, though I was interested to find out that when a movie version was first proposed in the 1980s they were thinking of casting Meryl Streep.

MANDY

After his quiet life with his beloved Mandy is destroyed by a sadistic cult,Red Miller seeks revenge and oh what an odyssey it is......

PRAISE: Sure Nicolas Cage has been making a a lot of B and C flicks lately,but in Mandy he shows why he is still one of the best actors around.This is a complete dedication to a role,completely immersing himself in a character.

Andrea Riseborough is great as the title character with her huge expressive eyes and quiet,aloof but loving manner.
I didnt even recognize Linus Roache as the insane and sadistic cult leader......wow
Great cameo by Bill Duke
This movie has all the great ingredients of a revenge flick but blend in an acid trip,that married a few issues of Heavy Metal !!
Director Panos Cosmatos paints an amazing iterpretation of what goes on in the minds eye and subconciousness after a harrowing experience all blended with mesmerizing visuals and symbolism.
I loved how this film can be interpreted in so many ways.
The late great Johann Johannson once again composed a score that fits perfectly with the dread and exhilirating moments happening on the screen.
Be warned this film is ultra violent at times and the gore is not for the faint of heart.

PROBLEMS: Over the top campiness around the edges,and a few drawn out moments

I should have had a few beers while watching this,i know it would have enhanced the experience.
I think the last time i drank or got high while watching a movie was years ago when i was watching Natural Born Killers.I've been told i was running around the house screaming : It's not real !! IT'S NOT REAL !! ....ahh the good old days

Scale of 1-10 an 8½

An early film dealing with the cult of celebrity as Kurt Russell's journo chronicles the murders of a serial killer who contacts him, almost wanting him to be his biographer, but when the journo starts to become the media star things go sideways. It's a good performance from Russell and the supporting cast are good, and while the film lacks a great script that really sinks it's teeth into the themes, or a standout sequence, it's still an interesting and engaging thriller.

7.5/10

It's a hostage situation within a hostage situation, you can tell the book has been truncated heavily in some regards but this is a solid thriller and one of Bruce Willis last good films.
