The House with a Clock in its Walls (2018)

Enchanting and genuinely spooky kids film heralding the very welcome return of Amblin Studios. It's like their classic 80's stuff mixed with a dash of Tim Burton. Cate Blanchett and Jack Black are an absolute riot together. Don't be put off by the fact that it's directed by Eli Roth, this is so far removed from anything he has directed before that you'd never guess it was by him if you didn't already know. Not a perfect movie, but a genuinely decent one nonetheless.

Not only does it capture the atmosphere and feel of the 80's, it actually feels like a movie made in the 80's and is a great mix of coming of age story and serial killer mystery with an Abmlin twist that builds tension really well and keeps you guessing right the way through. I wasn't a huge fan of the ending but overall this is a little gem of a film.

SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY

I loved it. It served as a pleasant reminder of some films and franchises I enjoy sitting through, and it stood as mostly a well made adventure movie until some convoluted stuff happened in the last battle.

I really enjoyed these two Star Wars Story spinoff movies, enjoyed them a lot more than the entirety of the main franchise.

The Last Jedi. Enjoyed it more this time, just the ending I still don't like.
