The Current War: Director's Cut

Kinda shocked this is getting less than stellar reviews. It's Alfonso Gomez-Rejon showcasing the electric war race between Edison and Westinghouse that's done in a fast, slick, and electrifying style (pun intended). I was actually surprised to find out Aaron Sorkin's wasn't involved writing this because it totally felt like one of his movies. The cast was phenomenal, particular Benedict Cumberbatch as Thomas Edison and Michael Shannon as George Westinghouse. The cinematography was really well done, there's certain shots that are really inspired. They also do a great job incorporating contemporary music that makes every scene very captivating to watch. If I had any complaints, it would be that the movie operates on a crash course level that you don't really spend time with any of the characters. The movie speeds up history to make every scene more plot driven. Overall, it's definitely a worthwhile watch even if the facts are somewhat conflated.
8.5/10

Bloodsucking Bastards
Beetlejuice

The Lighthouse - 9/10
Easily one of the most immersive film experiences I’ve had. My score could increase based on future viewings.

Terminator: Dark Fate

Mary Poppins Returns - watched with my partner and loved every minute of it. 8/10. They managed to 'replicate' style and feeling of original so well.

Black and Blue

Well some of the movie rings true............

PRAISE:When i reviewed Gemini Man i stated that Will Smith had enough charisma to for the most part uphold any film he is a part of.The same can be said of Naomie Harris in Black and Blue as a rookie cop who witnesses some ultra corrupt cops commit murder. She attacks the role with such unflinching intensity it was quite mesmerizing to watch her.
I never stopped rooting for her character.
Tyrese Gibson does an ok job as an old neighborhood friend. The action sequences were pretty good and the plot threads about police brutality and race relations rang true.

PROBLEMS:Sure there are bad neighborhoods nationwide and there are some cops who could care less about what goes on in them, but the one presented in this film was absurd !! I would have accepted it more if the film took place in some dystopian future.
I found myself rolling my eyes at some of the characters that were either to silly or wishy washy for me to care one bit about them.
Harris definitely deserves a better script than this semi Training Day flick

Scale of 1-10 a 6½

The Mist

It wouldn't be my horror marathon without this one. It's still my favorite horror film of all time and the best way to watch it is in black & white... Not only because it looks better, it does a great job hiding the outdated rendering of the CGI. I've seen this movie countless times and that ending still gets to me.
