There were some great Transformer moments and also great Michael Bay moments, but think Steven Speilberg's influence shined through a lot of times. What scenes do you consider speilberg like, and did you like them?

Mine were

The whole Sam and Bumblebee relationship

The autobot introduction

The autobots in Sam's backyard

Sam talking about his grandfather or who ever he was' stuff in class and everybody's bored, gave him the outsider element.

The whole film felt like a Spielbergesque event with the transformations and how a meak kid gets the girl.

When optimus prime rips the top of the car off and you have the human characters looking up in awe and fear as well.

I say really what the Spielbergesque moment in the movie was the scene before Sam bought Bumblebee. where he's pleading to his teacher for the A-. that's a definite spielbergesque moment imho. and the autobots in the backyard. that's Spielbergesque as well.

The Autobots arrival to earth sequence seemed really un-Bay like and 100% Speilburg. I got the 'E.T' or 'Close Encounters of The Third Kind' vibe from that scene.

The whole film, up to the "final fight" portion of the film.

But, primarily Sam's story.

Also going to note one specific moment as well:

The little girl thinking the robot is the toothfairy. That scene seriously reminds me of the scene with the little boy in JPII.

Yeah, the T-Rex in the backyard.

I remember watching the trailer in December and seeing the Transformer, I think it's Ironhide, coming out of the pool and I thought, "Damn that's Spielberg like"

The first time we see Bumblebee in his robot form, rising in the distance. It just seemed so surreal and mysterious.

BB getting caught, definitely. Showed a relationship between Sam and Bumblebee that's very Spielbergian.

def. Bumblebee getting captured. it's like when E.T. got sick at the end and the gov't came in to try and save him and see what happened with Elliot.

Any scenes that aims to meet my heart, is Spielberg.

Any stuff that aims to meet my eyes, Bay. ;)

Hell, SO MUCH of this film was very Spielberg-like.
This is almost as Spielberg-like as Casper.

the music felt very Speilberg-ish to me...

Thank you!!! Along with the Autobots entry into the atmosphere, that was the BEST most weirdly moving scene in the whole thing. I want to say that was totally a War of the Worlds type scene... but I know some people didn't like that movie. On the other hand, I think the Autobots orbital entry was pure Bay... and it worked great too.

I also find the scene where Sector7 captures Bumblebee very SSish

I found John Tuturro's intro scene to be very Ace Ventura-ish.

Definitely the arrival of the Autobots. It had me looking up at the screen in childlike awe and wonder.

Nope.

The most Spielbergesque scene was the shot of the mother and her child in the car and they're looking at Optimus and Bonecrusher fight off of the overpass. They move from inside the van, outside of their perspective and back inside again. Spielberg loves doing stuff like that.

Really? Maybe some of it...because there was a lot of music that seemed, to me, to be a complete rehash of music from Armageddon (the music when sam, mikaela, and the hackers are on the helicopter for instance)...

Or maybe I'm just confused and it was from The Island - which had an inkling of Spielberg's touch...

Absolutely

He's done stuff like that in War of the Worlds, Saving Private Ryan, and A.I...

Frenzy was a very Spielberg/Lucas/Zemeckis/Columbus type creature.
