I was just wondering if any words are trigger-worthy for some people.

For me, depending on how their said...

When said angrily/as a put down:

'Adopted'
'Bastard'
'Orphan'

When said seductively/temptingly:

'Chosen' (if any girl or mentor or friend found that out, they could easily wrap me around their finger and make me do whatever they wanted by calling me that; blame the "chosen one" stories adoptive parents tell lol - kinda learn to yearn for proving/living up to that status).

Those are my words, figured others have to have at least one that effects them.

Oh hell yeah I have one!

Have a serious violent reaction to the word Stupid. Actually something I warn people about when I get to know them.

Cannot explain why. Started happening when I was in my teens. I've smacked friends waaaaay too hard for saying it, even in jest. I even slapped my mum once cause she called me a stupid *****...

I mean, obviously, when I tell people this, they think it's hilarious to immediately reply with 'you're stupid', which doesn't produce a violent reaction cause i'm expecting it :funny:... but if you say it seriously, or you take me by surprise with it, don't expect me not to lash out!

It's not so much a word, but if I'm really impassioned about a topic and people don't give me the proper level of respect on it, I'll fly off the handle and just become progressively infantile. :o

"Atheism is a religion"
"Evolution is just a theory"
"If you turn your brain off it's a fun movie"

When said seductively/temptingly:

Do you want to be in a movie?

I hate it when people misuse the word "believe."

i.e. "I've never seen Mad Men because I don't believe in TV."

TV exists as a concept and physical object you fool, you just don't like it as medium and choose not to have one in your house. It's your opinion, take some damn ownership over your damn views. :cmad:

Stupid.

Not so much a trigger but annoying: Sellout. "That band sold out" Shut up. They did their job and became famous.

Oh wait, I got one...

"I don't care if it's good.../I don't care if you're right.../I don't care if it doesn't make sense..."

That **** makes me want to punch a wall.

Using "gay" to be mean bad. It sounds pathetically immature.

Also "pwned" which makes one look like he or she is trying to look cool.

"Sarah Palin".... I cringe whenever I hear that name mentioned. She represents everything broken about today's Republican party.

Bazzinga.

You trying to make me angry or just being a copycat? :cmad:

"If you turn your brain off it's a fun movie"

I hate that. If you turn your brain off everything can be anything.

That person won't probably care if you ounch his face either.

It depends on who says it.

If its some dumbass teenage boy says it, it makes me want to expose the gay porn he probably has hidden under his bed.

When my girlfriend says it...I kinda like it. :o

I don't know about words, but there's a face my girlfriend makes that throws me into a sexual frenzy every single time I see it. I just go absolutely ape****.

My biggest trigger is anyone that tells me I'm faking my disability. "You don't look disabled, stop pretending." or "Stop scamming the government you faker." That seriously puts me over the top.

What if they claim that you fake orgasms?

Would that raise a similar level ire?

The N word...[BLACKOUT]"nice"[/BLACKOUT]

Especially when it's used to describe me.

What is your disability?

If you're ok with answering that.

Aspergers Syndrome. I'm pretty good at acting normal around friends and relatives. It still pisses me off when people say I'm faking. Three different doctors confirmed the diagnosis. It doesn't really effect my life all that much, but it's still annoying to be called a fake.

That's how I feel about my ADD. I hate it when people imply I'm just being lazy or it's all in my head. Yes, ADD is a real thing. Yes, I have it. Yes, I'm aware it's overdiagnosed and no, you don't understand it, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

So, yeah, "lazy" would be another trigger-word.
