I think the movie was ok on it's own, neither great nor horrible... and I believe that it gets bashes on these boards way more than it should.

That said, there were many flaws in the movie including:
- The young girl
- The lack of screentime for fights and bad characters
- The lack of Daredevil
etc...

What would have made the movie better?

I think it would have been a much better movie if they cut out the young girls story completely and got rid of her character. I think it would have also been better if there were more fight scenes and if they were longer and expanded. (She killed them all so easily) I would have also liked to see the villians get more screentime, and would have loved for Daredevil to be in the movie (not just a cameo)

What are your thoughts?

If when I entered the theater, they would have given me the option to flush my money down a nearby toilet.

Garner was wrong for Elektra. She helps bring Daredevil down and she brought the whole house down for her own flick.

That and the movie sucked in almost every way possible.

With the story they chose, there was no hope for this movie right from the beginning. They should have just went with Daredevil 2.

While I dont think shes the worst choice for Elektra, she's also not the best.

What woulda made this movie better? An R rateing and a good director who knows action like the Scott bros or Luc Besson.

Anyone remember when Oliver Stone was gonna adapt Elektra: Assassin?

There's so many people hating on Elektra, but as a martial arts/action movie I liked it. Maybe its because i'm not a total fanboy.

I'd like someone to actually point out, intelligently why they didn't like the movie.

I agree bulok, my only faults with the movie were the little girl she was annoying, and she killed everyone too easily. She snapped one guys neck when he was weak and powerless, and threw a kife right into a chicks head from like 4 miles away... which was pretty ******ed.

I'm not usually one to yell "up the rating!", but I do agree that with a character as dark and intense as Elektra, I got the feeling that I was watching a "Disney-fied" version, almost like someone said: "okay, she's a comic book character, right? Okay, I know what to do with that." Instead of delving deeper into her character and her past.

And I don't think Jennifer Garner sucked. I'm not going to go so far as to say she *is* Elektra, because that's ridiculous. But she wasn't horrible.

And yeah, the little girl could easily have been removed. I would've liked to have seen more between Elektra and the female villain (whose name just left my brain, erk!). The only good thing about having the girl there were the lines the villainess said about how *she* used to be "the Treasure". I did like that.

As commented by MSJ, Elektra holding a solo film by herself is a pipe dream. More often than not, characters such as the Black Cat, Catwoman, Carnage, Magneto (I'm aware of the attempt to make a spinoff on him) and Bucky just can't hold up to the standards a more notable character-driven film with a big name would match. In the end there isn't a lot of content to show in these second-fiddle characters. Wasting money on films solely on aspects such as primary storyline popularity or star power is what has and will destroy most spinoff films.

what would have made the movie better? Well how long have you got? This seriously is the movie that is at the bottom of my scale. I go to see movies, and no matter how bad it is, at least I can say that it was better than elektra. Jennifer Garner looks like a man in drag. She acts with the skill of a severly ******ed box turtle, the plot was so slow that I almost fell asleep. There were only two good points. Ben Afflec was not in it, and it was short.

That was Typhoid Mary who was NOTHING like her comic version.

Not my first choice.

Jennifer Garner, physically, is not a horrid pick for Elektra. Acting-wise, I can't see her as a good pick for anything. Even 'Alias' was pretty bland to me in the height of it's popularity.

That square jawline? The overly-applied mascara? Err... :o

the treasure thing that they said calling the brat that was kinda stupid. wow her having good fightig skills cause she had some stupid bracelets or what ever. thats what made the movie childish of having her ass in there. if there where some other enemies in there that elektra fights in the comics maybe that would have made the movie a little more intresting.

I liked the film... nothing special but it was still good.

The story... They wanted her to be a cold hard assassin but yet they had the little girl in it. They needed to have this film rated R and just have Elektra be a bad-ass assassin.

they needed a lot on this film. This was the Catwoman of Marvel movies!

Go watch the feature about the Elektra comics on the Director's Cut DVD and you'll see how little "Elektra: the film" resembled (or payed any respect to) "Elektra: the comic character".

Simply awful.

Oh, and the "annoying little girl who can't act is a special martial-arts treasure that we need to protect" story is responsible for the numerous infants I pummeled after seeing the film.

rated R ? im surprised they didnt put it PG. no porn or foul language in that movie. and the violence in that movie was nothing serious at all.

The movie was just bad overall. Bad acting, bad plot, bad fight scenes. I agree with most now that Jennifer Garner wasn't the right person to play Elektra. At first I thought she was fine, but now I look at it and she wasn't fit for the role.
Then again no matter who you put in a role,if the screenplay sux balls then it would'nt matter who you casted. This was supposed to be an action movie it lacked that. The fights were too short uninvolved to really merit any applause. The little girl idea was like WTF is this all about..

matter of opinion. I think she is quite manish. she really looks like a drag queen. All she needs is an adam's apple. She is worse than jessica Alba!
