What would you like to see in the rumoured new costume?

Nightwatch from Spiderman, from around the time McFarlane was on the title and before I believe the introduction of Spawn. Nightwatch has a "self-aware" evolving nanite costume, similair to Spawns living costume from Hell.

Shh...Spawn is a totally original creation. :)

Brilliant. But where does his cape clasp on to?

wraparound.jpg

The upper portion of the bat logo just makes an "O" shape around Batman's neck. The bottom portion of the logo goes over the shoulders and extends into the cape. Best way to describe it is a necklace that hangs low in the back instead of the front.

I really like the idea of reversing Batmans colours, as in the mock-up above. Black costume, grey cloak, I think it would look much more sinister and shadowy. Like he's a black void with shadows literally circling around him. Similair to Nightcrawlers power where he can negate surrounding light.

I did this as an excample of a movie batsuit, but I wouldn't mind seeing somethingsimilar in the comics:

the desing is good, but i think batman looks a little scrawny there.
not a fan of yellow eyes either.

i agree Saint, i love the design, THE SUIT ITSELF COMPLETELY ROCKS don't change a thing.... make batman a little more built.... he looks like a kid!

can someone please show me the new bat suit that he got from Talia In the Ra's resurrection storyline, and explain to me why he had to wear it? please

What about Neal Adam's Batman redesign:

batmanredesignbynealadams.jpg

This is what he said about the design:

If I redesigned Batman, I wouldn't exactly redesign him. I would revamp him. I would find the perfect story to do this in and I would attempt to correct errors made along the way as well as make the costume do the work better.
I would take disadvantages of the old costume and make them into advantages.
1. The fins on the gloves should not be fabric, but pointed and sharp. The blade should be hidden and pop out with a muscle twitch.
2. Batman's Belt. The old capsules ceased being effective 25 years ago. No, they never were effective, nor is a World War 2 garrison belt. But a utility belt, as in a carpenter's utility belt that holds weapons, grapplers, guns and crime-fighting paraphernalia as a uniquely designed true utility belt would be perfect.
3. Boots are thick soled ninja boots with wraparound flaps velcroed up his leg. In the shank, weapons.
4. Costume. Bulletproof and watertight, thermal coils and refrigerant coils throughout, acid resistant, padded at the shoulders and riddle with structural supports for (if needed) a kind of super strength.
5. Cowl is pulled over a face plate containing radio, infrared biometrics and night vision as well as video feed. A waterproof breathing mask slides and seals over the face for breathing underwater. (Oxygen in utility belt.)
6. Bat symbol subtle but bold. Dark against dark.
7. Cape stiffens for flight. Acts as fins underwater.
Same ol' Batman. Man of tomorrow.

--Neal Adams

That's a good redesign - well thought out - looks cool - but it makes Batman too powerful for my taste. Taking away much of the human risk element of Batman. Giving Batman a "acid resistant - totally bullet proof suit that gives him super strength plus flight with his cape" makes Batman too much like so many other superheroes - too Iron Manish.

i agree... the essence of the character is that he is a mortal in a suit, with the tools for every situation.... he is a cunning fighter, but he cannot fly, he's bullet resistant, but not bullet proof & has to use his mind as his best tool for survival....

Personally, I prefer my Batman as a detective as opposed to a Superhero.... More film noir detective-esque than Superman-esque

I love it. By the way, does that happen to be inspired by those old concept drawings of Batman: Year One that popped up on here back in 2003?

That looks like the suit from Batman Giotham knight anime

i wouldn't mind seeing the colors for the batsuit change permanently into Tim Sale's TLH batsuit....

as far as design, well c'mon.... you guys have already had some spankin' ideas man!

Not consciously, since I don`t really recall what they looked like.

i really think the year one scans were good. I posted my own version of those HERE ON THIS VERY tHREAd A while Back

Interview with Tony Daniel. He says he was asked to design new Batman and Robin costumes, so maybe it's not Ross doing the redesign (or maybe these are temporary, just for this arc, with Ross redesigns to come later? Or maybe we have everything wrong? Who knows?) They also show a picture of Daniel's redesigned Batmobile, which I think is totally kickass (and exactly how I thought the batmobile should be).

"Building a Better Batmobile."

That Batmobile sucks. It reminds me of the terrible 70's Batmobile in that it's just a regular ass car with some Bat's painted on it. At least it's a sports car, as compared to the Iroc looking thing from the 70's, but still.
