Merging the two universes would be a catastrophic mistake. The only character that would maybe benefit from that is Spiderman, maybe. I respect marvel a lot for not resorting to crises and sticking with their historic continuity, then again i suppose OMD could be considered a "crisis".

The idea that Marvel would actually merge the 616 and Ultimate universes together is, frankly, absolutely ******ed. The Ultimate line is already a testing ground for ideas to be written into the MU, so there's not even a decent enough reason to fuse the two together.

If the Ultimate line absolutely plummets in sales, then Marvel will just cancel it. Simple as that.

But the movies are going to be raking in serious dough, and will probably add many more readers.

Not to mention we have the steadily building ridiculousness of "marvel time" in which Tony Stark was in his 30s in Vietnam, Punisher.

Not to mention the scores of heroes who were in at least there mid 20s in the 1960s.

Eventually those things are just gonna seem silly. It wasn't that bad in the 80s..but 1960 was 48 years ago! How utterly stupid is this going to seem in 2020?

New Fans are going to want parralles to the immensly popular movies. I can almost see some movie fan seeing Sam Jackson as Fury and picking up NA and saying "WTF is this?"

I don't know if the continuity will be "merged", but I'd guess this would be the way to go.

Just prep yourself.

DC fans go through this every 5 years or so. Star Trek fans are getting theirs soon too.

While some of the Ultimate books are slipping in sales, this is mainly due to delays and an easy fix. The ultimate books , some are getting kinda deep in their own continuity at this point upwards of 100 issues. The fact that the line was successful from its start is all the proof marvel needs that a relaunch is feasible.


PS- its not like i want this. I just really , really see it happening. My guess is 2010, a year before the Avengers movie (which i thought was sceduled for 2011)

Well, I don't THINK they'd ever merge the universes but I do think there will be an event. You see more and more mentioning in the comics. The zombies were in 616 BP and 616 SS in Ultimate Power or Ultimate Universe.
