What's next for superman

I'd love to see Lois dealing with Clark being de-powered, living a semi-normal life with him. Her realizing she wants a family and Clark, realizing while he is Superman he can never give her that. He can't commit and bring a child in this world and at the same time, dedicate himself to the rest of the universe. This could later cause a rift bewteen Lois and Clark. It'd make them realize just what they are missing and what they are gaining in one sense.

this thread should probably be under Superman movie,
and in the superman comic section
and titled with a spoler alert.

I thought that earlier.
But I think its also logical to think about big characters like Superman and Spider-Man, having children.

Should Superman end up with Wonder Woman instead of aging slowly while Lois gets old fast?

Like the Earth 2 version.

if someone had the balls to give him a kid (which im all for... but NOT the way the movies have done it... thats a *****fest for another thread...) i think one of the funnest stories out there to tell would be when his son (or daughter) finds out that the nerdy overbearing worrywart of a dad is SUPERMAN... that would be an awesome tale in the hands of the right writer...

thats a good point, because if the child starts to grow the other characters will also have to age, and lets face it, none of them have aged that much since their debut, but DC seem to making things more real lately, i jus figured it might be a possible next step.

I agree. I wouldnt mind Superman having a kid but comics dont treat kids well....or we end up with a situation that while Dick Grayson as gone from a teenager into a young adult and slightly older, Batman is the same age as he always has been.

Yeah... See, giving a kid to Superman is kind of silly. DC comics isn't going to one day kill of Clark Kent for good and have his son take over. Same with Tim Drake becoming Batman. Sure, if DC progressed comics one day Tim would become Batman or something. But they won't.

I will say one thing. As I've caught up with a few noteworthy Superman titles I have noticed the reoccuring theme that Superman and Lois DO have sex. I don't think I've seen a bigger implied "Lois and Clark have sex" scene than what For Tomorrow showed. Not to mention Loeb implied it with one of his arcs in Superman/Batman. Would I want Superman and Lois to have a kid? You know I'm torn. I look at Batman and I say "Even though he's never going to age in the comics, really, I still in my little head hope that someone...maybe Tim or Dick, will become Batman when Bruce retires or dies." It makes me feel like the DCU is safe. So, yeah I could handle a Superman.

I wouldn't be surprised if some writers suddenly says "Oh, yeah..Clark and Lois had a kid al ong time ago, but it's been a secret" so they can have a new Superboy. Or they'll have a kid and name is Connor after Connor Kent.

I have two thoughts after reading your post. first i fully expect one day for bruce to die or retire and either tim or dick (probably tim) to take the batman mantle but thats just me.

I fully expect them to have a kid now since it was in the movie. Since it looks like superboy won't be back (so pissed off about this damnit:mad:) i think it would be nice if they named him connor in honor of him.

It's ok. I used to dream, too. :(

I think the easiest way to deal with the child aging thing is to do what FF did with Franklin Richards. Have Lois and Clark's baby be an infant for a few years, then have the child be about 8 for as long as they want.

I think the overall responce, at least after all the hype is settled, is that people would actually really like Superman being a dad and Lois being a mom.
I'm sure it would be a good fit, a natural evolution of their characters.

If they wanted to have stories deal with young teenager stuff, then they can have a comic that is sort of what the future is, like Spider-Girl, and they can have stories like finding out her father is Superman. and stuff like that.
