What's the Plot for the Relaunch...?

Sorry if this has already been discussed, but I haven't been reading DC since around the first 20 issues of the relaunched Teen titans, and Batman War Games (or crimes, or something like that) and little bit of the batman and robin, but i see DC is now doing a Huge re launch trying to get new readers and gaining more exposure, and I'm interested to see what's gonna happen, but can some one give me a run down of how its gonna happen? is it gonna like a who Crisis on Infinite earths thing again and everything then gets rebooted? or are they ending all the stories and starting a fresh? and what's this whole flashpoint thing? there is alot to read, ( to much infact ) for me to get clued up, so can any one give me a quick summary? Thanks

It's not a reboot thankfully

Some characters are staying exactly the same. Batman and the other Bat characters Green Lantern and Legion of Superheroes arent being affected by the relaunch

While some characters are having their histories or origins altered a little

Flashpoint is a Flash event where time is mucked around with so events across DC history, like Hal Jordan becoming a Green Lantern, don't happen or are altered. After Flashpoint, the main DC Universe will be changed; some of the current history will be kept, some changed, and some characters will get complete reboots. Action Comics will explain how superpowered people arose in the new history. Justice League covers their new "first adventure." The rest of the comics take place in the "present." Next month, DC will release these 52 magazines, all #1's, at comic shops and online on the same day.

Because this won't be exactly a complete reboot it won't atract that many reader as they would like too, some will open the comic and think, ho, i tought i would see his story from the begining, and not in the middle of his career where so much has happened.

ok i see some aren't gonna be changed, but how is the justice league gonna reform For the "1st time" again and batman doesn't change? sounds very confusing... wonder if i should go out and buy a few number 1s, depending on how well they do they might be worth something in a few!
still got my Ultimate spider-man #1 ;-) that's worth almost a couple hundred now right?

You should definitely check out Batwoman issue one because it will be fabulous and

And all the supernatural series look pretty fun too so you should buy those if you like magical and supernatural stories

Oh and buy Stormwatch. Their fighting the moon!

Batman already had the classic Year One, they wouldn't be able to top that, but i would like to see stories set in that time that didn't have a modern version 100 % canonical like the first confrontation with penguin and the Red Hood gang

Question: so with DC now doing a restart, including for superman, are they still gona do ANOTHER Origin story (follow up) to Superman Earth One. I know it's probably classed as else world, but it's suppose to be a contemporary superman, and isn't the new number 1's the same thing? I kinda like Earth one and them bringing in a new villian for him, because they kept recycling Zod

I don't think the recent Secret origin was a proper origin, i think it was more a re telling with changes to man of steel, am i right? I peronsally favoured the Birthright Mini as an orgiin story for Superman, but let's be fair, Superman Comics over the last decade have really sucked, thats why they keep doing mini's with His orgins, or else world, they are the only ones worth talking about, so with the new movie coming, they are doing the right thing in starting their flagship character fresh (and ongoing). I'm ok with batman, as for GL was never to interested in him, however i hope they do wonder woman some justice.

From what ive heard pretty much all of Action Comics is going to be supermans "year one", except as a continuing series. AndYeah they are working on a sequel to Earth one, not sure when it's going to be released but I know they doing it as we speak.

Birthright was THE S H!T! i've been reading rumours they are taking elements from that story line, like where's he's travelling around the world, i hope Krypton looks like it did there, i'm tired of the Crystalysed version.
