The Dark Knight What's the Big deal with Schrieber?

ANTHONYNASTI-

you have officially topped the list of worst acting taste of all time

you say that christopher walken has no range....go to hell..watch the deer hunter..watch propechy...watch catch me if you can...and then watch wedding crahsers, and notice the completley non similar roles that thoes are, true romance, pulp fiction different roles

bale was in shaft true, but for one, measure shaft vs scream it isn't even close

also, look at bales resume pre batman, The Machinest, American Psycho, Memento, Equillibrium...excellent movies that Bale shows that he is a true actor, Schrieber as **** on any of those movies, if he would have once done something half as good as those movies you would have a case

manchurian candidate is not close so don't give me that ****, the hurricane was good, but not because of Schriebers performance

i would like to say i hope it is schrber blows up in your face, but i want this movie to be good to so i wont say that

Pacino and Denzel have wayyy more range than Walken.

I actually think Denzel has killer range. A lot of times I don't even recognize him for a few minutes. Then I'm like "Oh hey! It's Denzel" and everyone's like "duh"

I'm not dissing when I say Denzel and Al have style that's used. Maybe I should have said they use there signature acting style rather than diversity like Johnny Depp. Liev applies similarly.

That aint dissing any of them

Hey! First of all, telling me to go to hell is a bit harsh. Secondly, Walken may be able to play different types of characters, but in everything I've seen of him (and I've seen a lot of his stuff), his voice, his speech patterns and his mannerisms are all the same. I'm not saying he's a bad actor. He's one of my Top Five favorite actors.

Secondly, Bale does indeed have a great resume.

(He wasn't in Memento, though).

I thought the remake of The Manchurian Candidate was decent, but it didn't hold a candle to the original. But I thought Schreiber did well.

And I have great taste in actors as well as actresses. I'll post my Top 100 if you want to see it.

Yeah, watch him in Cry Freedom. I had to ask the teacher if it was Denzel, and he wasn't so sure himself.

I'd put Depp in the "style" category as well, actually.

lol. I'm glad I'm not the only one that happens to.

If diversity is his signature style sure, but every actor utilises a different approach, so it depends on your outlook. But there all dope actors

Maybe I've been watching all the wrong Depp movies. To me, he's always Depp. He can play different characters with different attitudes and different mannerisms but there are certain Depp mannerisms that just don't ever go away. Unlike say Denzel or Bale who seem to disappear into the role more.

Hence why I said your point is probably right too. Like you can flip it and say "well maybe diversity and singature styles arent seperate things, maybe diversity IS a singanture style"

Sure, but I don't find Depp's roles all that diverse. He's always that aloof, semi-spaced out guy.

At least in the stuff I've seen.

True, lotta people getting upset on these boards about people's opinions right here.

My opinion is that Luda should put Kreuk back up.

Kreuk is still the truth, that's wifey right there:O

But this avy had to be done for:eek: purposes

Plus Ashley Hartman is hot too

Excuse me, but why do we need an actor with fantastic range to play Harvey Dent? Schrieber has shown that he can play both the caring politician needed for Harvey Dent, and the psyco needed for Two-Face in the Manchurian Canidate - what else do you really need? Add that to his Harvey Dent looks, and the fact that he is a serious, professional, classically trained actor and you got a man who can hold his own verse any actor up for the role.

So basically, in conclusion: SCHRIEBER (and Bettany) DAMMIT!!!!!

Whether or not Schrieber has fantastic range, the fact is he does have the ability to play a fantastic Harvey Dent and Two-Face, and that's all that matters. I dont care what else he can do, I care what he can do in this role, and from what i've seen in Manchurian Candidate and Sum of All Fears, he can do Dent/Two-Face.

I've come to the point where I just cant, and dont want to, see anyone else in the role of Dent. I can just imagine him in a scene with Batman and Gordon, saying his famous line, "Two shots to the head, if you ask me it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy."

That line is to comics what "Make him an offer he can't refuse" is to film

Yep, and that was my point. Sure you can get a diverse actor but thespians with signature styles can apply too and are usually the quick pick. So while I personally havent picked Liev as my Dent choice I cant get mad at someone who would as I'm sure he would be a good choice.

Exactly - I feel the same way about Paul Bettany for the Joker.
