Independence Day (cheesy classic)

South Park: Bigger Longer and Uncut (Little boy you're goin' to hell always cracks me up)

I definitely will. I just assumed it was one long running pop culture reference like the Shrek films.

Godzilla (1998)

Even as someone with no experience with the mythology, I didn't find this to be particularly good. It is with great regret, that we now have no chance of seeing the fantastic Jean Reno in the reboot due soon. He was by far the best part of the film.

My favourite parts of this kind of film are always the initial attack, where no one has any idea what's happening, you get shifting perspectives, you see a foot, or a tail, there's always great tension. Emmerich blew his load too quick. You have a feel for the creature too quick.

1/5

Not at all. The first film treats it like a regular kung fu story except with talking animals.

And Godzilla was a childhood favorite of mine. I even saw it in theaters. And Reno is the best part of it from what I remember. If I watch it today, it will probably be awful.

It's charming, funny and touching , but uneven at times. An enjoyable yet flawed film.

Obsessed 5/10
just absolutely horrible.....
Really bad acting from beyonce especially in the end fight scene
its really more unintentionally hilarious than intense

*while draging ali across the floor*
"I'mma wipe the floor with yo skinny ass, I told you *Punch* not to touch *punch* Mah child *punch* *****"

it really deserves less, but ali later is mighty fine

Transformers: Dark of the Moon

Dear God - 7/10 Not a bad Garry Marshal film, I think this was Greg Kinnears first lead in a movie that was a wide release.

Is that the one where he works for the post office?

13 Assassins

While it was a decent ass kickery of a movie, it did remind me of Seven Samurai. So much so that I would say that it's almost a love letter to that classic film. Could be that I saw Seven Samurai so recently for the first time I can't help to think about it. Either way it did have a good classic story that is updated for today (also CGI steers, really? ). If it had some more character development from each samurais then it would be really something but it was cut an hour short.

8/10

Really? I thought it did a good job of establishing their motivations against Lord Naritsugu, and developing their personalities and relationships with each other, especially during battle. There's obviously going to be different levels of focus on particular characters, but that's expected.
I loved the corpse curtain call, too; the music and montage was a great sendoff for the men who willingly make their lives secondary to a cause or idea, which the opening scene was leading at.

There's maybe about 3 or 4 samurais that had good character development but overall it felt like you never got to know the others until they got killed off and you were left thinking "who was that guy again?" that's how I felt about it watching the battle. Seven Samurai did a fantastic job on that part. I knew who was who and what personality they had going on and you felt the emotion going though when each was killed off. In 13 Assassins it was, to me,
the uncle, the clam and collective badass, and the Kikuchiyo knockoff.
