What do you think will be the biggest trilogy remembered as Starwars is?

Pirates? Even though it's not done yet, I think it's very well done, and is just as cool as Starwars to me.

The Matrix? I think not. I think some thought this would be the new Starwars, but it turned to crap, some say X-men is the new Starwars.
I'd agree, alot of good cliffhangers, X-2 was reminiscent of Empire in some respects.

I'd say Lord of the Rings but, it's been a big thing for years even before the movies, it's its own thing, ya know.

It has to be Pirates, LOTR has had a monumental mainstream success but it still is viewed as almost to nerdy even for Star Wars geeks.

Pirates has the right mix of every ingrediant need to be the basically the dominant film franchise of this decade. My guess is we get at least a 4th Pirates before the decade is up

It's LotR. PotC is more like this decades BttF.

Nah its Pirates. LOTR wont have any conjested sequels or prequels or spin offs. Pirates most certainly will.

let the debate begin...

Pirates will more then likely continue making movies as long as Johnny Depp wants to, and he has been quoted as saying he wants to make 4, 5 or 6 of them

If I could bet all my money on one thing that we don't know forsure, it would be that AWE is not the last Pirates movie

For me its Lord Of The Rings as I do not care much for the Pirates movies. They are more overrated then Batman Begins

This shows about how much you know, if you where to think one or the other is overrated it is overlookable, but both? I can see where certian tastes could deviate from ether style of movies, but only plain bad taste could think both are overrated.

Because I dont like / prefer two certain franchises ? Okay then you can think & say whatever helps yopu sleep at night

:whatever:

The intelligence of hype members when it comes to opinions is quite amusing

:whatever:

There should be a sitcom with hype members going nuts because of what one thinks

Your response shows how much YOU know

I agree with this.

But then I also agree with this:

I feel so torn. :(

If we were to examine it from the point of just talking about the original SW and not the prequel, as if the the prequel never existed. Then I'd have to go with the second statement. Since the prequel does exist though and assuming more Pirates would be made, I guess Pirates would be the new Star Wars.

It would have to be The Lord Of The Rings or Pirates Of The Caribbean for i can't think of anything else. That has currently made overa billion dollars world wide. Not even as great as Star Wars was did it surpass that feet.

Lord of the Rings. It actually compares with the quality of the first Star Wars movies, plus it may be getting a Hobbit spin-off in the years to come. And Spider-Man's up there too of course.

I don't think there is a new Star Wars like phenomenon. Sure, LOTR, Pirates, Spider-Man, X-Men, the Matrix made a lot of money and are/were popular, but none of them have affected pop culture like Star Wars did.

Lord of the Rings. Fo shizzle.

For internet fanboys: LOTR.

For the general masses: Pirates.

Not really... I'm not a fanboy of LoTr, but even I know that LoTR trumps pirates by a mile. Lord of the Rings was a huge step in terms of story telling, Pirates is merely fluff, audiences aren't stupid they distinguish, I'm constantly surprised by the people I find who think LotR is awesome... LotR is closest, but SW came out in a different time, before we had such a massive glut of entertainment at our disposal. Back when you had to go to a movie theater to see a movie again, rather than on home video.

Matrix possibly as well, but the sequels kind of lack the quality of the first one.

pirates was amazing......

but LOTR is a ****ing masterpiece.... like the mona lisa

6 Pirates of the Caribbean films?! Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the drunken antics of Jack Sparrow, but doing six movies seems a bit... excessive.
