Although similar to another thread this covers a slightly different topic. Why do the majority of people on these boards dislike the females of comic book movies.

I go onto the batman begins forums most people hate Katie
I go onto the spider-man forums there's hate for kristen
I go onto the x-men forums there's hate for halle and to a lesser extent famke and anna.
Superman forums-Kate Bosworth

So what's the story? Why do they gets no respect? Are all their preformances crappy? Are we all gay and don't like our favourite superhero cozying up to someone else? (I do not mean the last statement to be offensive, I have only respect for gay people)

Personally I like all the above preformances, so can someone fill me in on why all the hate for these woman whereas the male actors get so much respect...

I wasn't aware that there was hatred towards Famke Janssen.

As for you question, well, the majority were disappointed with the performances given by the Kates (Holmes & Bosworth), Anna, Kirsten, and in the case of Halle Berry it's a reaction to Halle's attitude as an actress as well as her acting.

Kate Bosworth was bit wooden not same Lois from The Reeve Superman movies or Lois from TNAOFS (Teri Hatcher)

Katie Holmes seemed very young to be a DA but performance was fine but not very convincing as Rachel.

Famke Janssen was only female actor that was great as her character in X-Men and she was great in GoldenEye also.

Let me break it down for you;
women in comics are drawn as curvaceous vixens; the ladies you mentioned above are not. They don't conform to fanboy fantasies so they get bashed. That's a big part of it. As for Halle, she just doesn't convey the strength of a goddess/queen (Although X3, IMO, was the one time she came close.) & is generally too prissy.
And Katie just seems out of her element.

Anyone who hates Halle has one of these three problems:

1. They're an extremely ugly chick.

2. They're obviously gay.

3. They don't have a pulse.

no, not really... :down

Nice to know there's some things we agree on, JB.

You have to also consider this; 9 times out of 10 the first person hired to play in a superhero movie is the one playing the actual superhero; the most important person in the film. The resto f the cast is then built around him & they are predominantly hired not necessarily for their looks, but how they interact onscreen with Tobey or Brandon or Christian or whoever's wearing the tights. This is how we got Kirsten, Kate & Katie. (Seems to be a lot of K's.) In the case of the X-girls, Singer picked the women who best fit HIS vision of the X-Men. So we're not gonna get the ladies who necessarily make us drool, b/c he wanted a certain type of performance & he got it.

Best female hero adaptation ever.

Didn't really like the movie, but I LOVED Michelle's performance.

Michelle set the bar really high for females in comic book movies. In a way, I'm kind of glad no one has topped her performance.

I agree. :up::):up:
But Famke comes pretty close.

I dont think Katie Holmes was as bad as many said, and Anna seems to be victim of the comic book purist lynch mob lol I think she did great.

it, has nothing to do with hating the women, in fact it becuse we love the women of the comic to much, that we hate to see them poorly casted and or preformed
but, you only mention a few names, of charcters who are favs, and got protray wrong on hte big screen. they are a lot of women in the comic movies, that have very large (mostly guy) fan base.

Maybe I'm not looking in the right place, but I don't see a lot of bashing on Selma Blair for her performance in Hellboy (2004).

^That's because she was good in it. Of course, imo. (though it is true)

I didn't really mind Holmes much. Sure she was a bland character in the movie, but I didn't find her annoying.

Dunst is just terrible as MJ. She sleep walks thru the role most of the time, and she completely let her looks go in SM-2. In some scenes she looked down right unattractive.

Bosworth, like Dunst, sleep walked thru her role. No energy or enthusiasm. She just wasn't right for the role IMO.
