BvS When And How Did You First Encounter Superman And Batman?

It depends how old one was, when it came out, having been brought up as a small child to have been lucky to have seen Superman (1978) and Superman II at the cinema, I was 12 when IV came out so old enough to know it was terrible.

Plus, take the Clark Kent v Superman junkyard fight out of III and that's pretty bad as well, although the Clark / Lana scenes are good as well.

I love SIII, I think it's really underrated, remove the Pryor stuff and replace that with a good villain you fix that movie.

I even think although SIV would still be a poor film in terms of story and certain elements, fix the FX and that film is not as universally hated.

Same. I was twelve when Supe IV came out and it was so below the standards of the other entries, even III. There is a documentary about CANNON FILMS that came out in 2014, that details how Supe IV came about. It's a great doc for anyone that saw any of the product CANNON put out.

I don't know how old I was when I first saw SIV but I was 3 when it came out.

Oh wow I wanna watch that documentary.

It will never happen, but would be interesting to see the full length edit of Superman IV in it's entirity, I have the blu-ray boxset of all the films and even the 'deleted' scenes don't give a true flavour of the assembled edit of what the final version would have been. In it's defence, I challenge ANY film to survive having 30% of it's post production budget slashed and 40% of it's filming budget slashed whilst on set and still have a discernable film at the end of it, particuarly one that was so relient on SFX.

I would love to own the extended version, I'm pretty sure as a kid we got that on Tv because I distinctly remember seeing the tornado scene as a child.

1963.....age 6.....my grandfather ran a little mom and pop grocery in the tiny town we lived in.....any comic book that didn't sell and was to be removed from the rack, he gave to me and my brother.

My first memory of any superhero, or comic book related character for that matter, was being dressed as Superman by my parents for Halloween when I was 3 or 4 (so roughly 1990). I remember my dad holding me flat over his head in my grandmother's kitchen, and outstretching my arms to do the flying pose.

Next I remember Swamp Thing because of the network TV show that was airing at the time. I loved that show but was terrified by it at the same time.

Batman comes a bit later. I remember the marketing for Batman Returns. Specifically Selina laying on top of Bruce and licking his face.

All good memories!

Batman '89 blew me away as a child, first time I saw it with my dad. I'd seen him watching the Adam West Batman, but I never ever knew any superhero could be this cool. It soon was followed by Batman Returns, BTAS, eventually the Dark Knight Returns comics and Knightfall written novel. Have never been as large a fan of Superman's but he's okay.

The earliest memory I can think of was sometime in the 90's watching STM with my Dad.

For Batman?

4 years old, first movie ever in theaters, Batman 1989.

Kind of an intense movie for someone of that age now that I think about it. But it rocked my imagination, and world. That was the defining moment for what would become a lifetime love of my favorite fictional character.

Batman TAS only sealed the deal on this obsession, along with the subsequent inferior and often terrible sequels through out the 90s.

Picked up my first Batman comic in 2001 when I heard the next film might be based on either ... and I read Year One, and TDK Returns. Briefly picked up interest before it then again subsided.

Chris Nolan and Christian Bale re sparked the flame of passion for Batman I had as a child from the late 80s through mid 90s. Bringing the character back with integrity and requisite darkness to the big screen for my young adult years.

For Superman?

First experience was in 1993, between the ages of 7 and 8 years old. My sister bought for me the Death of Superman comics which caught the entire nations attention. I enjoyed it. And I understood his value as an American icon ... but the Donner movies didn't do anything for me as a kid. It wasn't until the Superman TAS that I established minor enthusiasm for the character as a whole, outside of the "Death Of" story.

BATMAN: Batman: The Animated Series

SUPERMAN: Superman: The Movie

Batman89, Batman Returns, BTAS.
Superman, Superman II, STAS.

Funny thing - I don't remember. It feels like they both were always around. Earliest memories of Batman - Batman '89 and Returns, games from NES and Sega, BTAS. Superman - '78 movie.

Almost as early as I can remember, basically. For both Bats and Supes, it must have been comic books that my older brother had that he shared with me when I was a small child during the 1960s. Certainly by the age of four of five I was an avid fan and played at being both of those two superheroes. I have pictures of me in the Superman suit available from the Sears catalog, and playing with Batman's batarang and utility belt when I could not have been older than 5. I had drawing ability from early on and was drawing them all the time from as early as I can remember, so taken was I by the comic books. I bought a lot of World's Finest comics, actually, and was particularly fond of the Superman and Batman team-up (had all kinds of comics, though).

For me superman the movie started it all and since then I've managed to watch every superman movie, show and cartoon ever made and last year I finally managed the massive feat of reading every superman comic produced since Action #1!!! I'm a grown Iraqi man who loves an american icon, if that ain't irony then I don't know what is.

As for batman, well I really don't care for the character (I did like BTAS and BBegins) and I don't remember my first exposure to the character but somehow I always knew about him because he's so iconic.
