When did the DUI become such an indifferent thing?

Maybe it's always been this way, maybe not....couple dudes here at work in my cubicle area just casually discussing their past weekend, one talks about how he got a dui over the weekend, the other talking about how he got one the week before, basically like it's just getting a traffic ticket or whatever. Is it pretty much just a common thing and don't have as much impact on your record as it did back in the day, or what? Hell, there are even a couple chicks in my class that talk about it like it ain't ****.

Kids in college talk about getting DUI's with sense of pride. :down

when a law becomes popular... kids tend to wanna break it more lol
thats science

What kind of work place is it? I worked for city government years ago....one year at the renewal of insurance....they did a check, all people with current DUI's within the past 3 years were put on probation, not allowed to drive city vehicles, and not given a yearly raise until after the time of their DUI reached 3 years. Those who recieved a DUI after that had to do somekind of rehab or they were fired.

It's a corporate setting, basically an IT company. About 80% of the staff is in their 20's, so I don't know if they just got the cases dropped, or they had some pull, or whatever.

A lot of my friends drive drunk a lot, I've even been in a few cars after a few pitchers and blazing. KuHrAzy. I don't condone it but werd, people don't really care anymore.

probably because some states first timers don't get much of a punishment :down I wish they get fines up to 5 or 10 K and lose the damn car. Here in Ohio I seen some with DUI in the double digits and still not in jail :cmad:

The sad thing is, I know a few people who I would say that about too :csad:

Did you know Mr. Moseby from the Disney show killed a girl while drinking and driving?

Until they die in a car crash....but oh, that's right....they usually kill the innocent people in the other car.

^^ thats happend a lot in my hometown the past year. Zero tolerance for DUI's here, straight to the clink.

WeRd.

Funnily enough the only people I know who have died in an auto collision were sober at the time.

A buddy of mine had to go to court because he was in a fight. The guy ahead of him got a DUI while riding his bike

I prefer they get shot

Know too many and have several relatives and friends who been killed or maimed by drunk drivers

I almost got a DUI this weekend, at 1:15 in the afternoon. I hadn't had a sip of alcohol for around 11 hours prior

Umm...it's a pretty big deal. Most areas will eventually suspend your license and make you pay massive fines.

Suspending don't work if the idiots continue to drive, some DUI find ways to get around it like buying a junk car when the other one get taken or make fake ID and get new driver license

Most of my friends have DUIs cause they are ******ed, Im usually the designated driver. I decided to not be one on New Years just cause I always am and behold 4 friends now have DUIS cause "I" didnt drive any of them anywhere haha.

When I was in College kids would always brag about getting DUIs. It reminded me of Grade School when you would hear kids brag about getting grounded and sneaking out. The thing is, most of them are lying.

People don't care until they lose someone they love and care about as a result of drunk driving. Indifference will be our society's downfall.

Alot of people that get stopped for DUI don't actually get convicted. They might be arrested, taken to prison, and then sober up during the time that they wait for additional breath-tests to be run or the results of a blood test the driver has sobered up and in many cases charges aren't ever pressed.

Buzzed driving is drunk driving, but any many states it won't matter a lot.

:cmad: Damn you dirty double posts.

I don't think its even as simple as losing someone they love, it's until they've ****ed up someone else's life and have to deal with the consequences of their actions.
