When does Breyfogle get his collection?

What cotdamn shame :csad: smfh @ most self proclaimed batmanites they probably don't even know who Norm Breyfogle is :cmad:

Yes, that's a fact.

And a shame.

I still have the FEELING that Breyfogle and DC have some beef, because of unknown reasons. Didn't they kick out Grant because he refused to write Batman as the "******* BAtman"?

Just to bring this up again:

Grant & Breyfogle!

I just can't believe this crap, why is it so hard to release this in a Archives kinda fasion. They don't need to pimp up the colouring (like Adams did) just reprint the damn stories.

I'm kinda mad about this whole deal, just bought cover to cover and was surprised to only find TWO covers by Norm.

And where's his black and white statue, I was hoping it would have been announced after Aparo's!

Come on DC!

I was wondering, is there any kind of Colan & Moench collection? Or a tpb that collects any portion of their run at all? Apart from 'Batman in the 80's'. What's that like anyway?

i met Norm Breyfogle during the height of his popularity and like Matt Wagner, the guy's a Real class act- Very unlike Todd McFarlane, who wussed out on being invited outside by an aggro 14y/o for an ass-whupping (for being rude to a couple of his younger fans in front of me in line)- Norm showed no indication of sleep deprivation, disorientation, or hunger when I saw him, although he was suffering from all 3, as the storeowner told me later. I really would like to see him back on Tec sometime-

i'd never heard about grant and big b getting blacklisted- what's the story there?

and just once, for the love of all that's unholy (not to get Too off topic) but Damn i'd like to see Al Columbia tackle a bats/joker story a la doghead or the biologic show- yeah yeah, it'd be way mature rated or whatever, but his brand of visual sickness is the only thing i see that could do justice to Mr J's imagination- be a Real sport (and a noble prize winning diplomat) if you could then get sienkewicz for the cover, or hell, bring McKean back to bats- come to think of it, i'd just be happy seeing what Columbia could have done with that all prose joker ish- woulda been a Helluva lot better than that CGI looking garbage (look up Al Columbia on wiki, check out some of his stuff, and Then read the prose joker ish and tell me he wouldn't have been a Brilliant choice of artist to suit the style of writing)

anyway, back to the topic at hand- kinda makes me feel like I'm sitting up in Cheers when an old friend I haven't seen in a while walks in...
NOOOOOOOOOOORM!!!

I got a chance to meet Breyfogle at NYCC. A really cool guy. I got Legends of the Dark Knight issue one so he could sign it. He did and was very gracious. Now, I want a Breyfogle collection.

Just sended another email to Dc editorial.

Code:
Dear Editors,

I was wondering when will the time come to finally reprint the Grant and Breyfogle, Batman run?
They are two of the most essential en influencial artist ever to grace either TEC or Batman.
New fans really need to be made aware of these great stories, and I'm 100% certain the "older" fans are anxiously awaiting a collected edition much like that of Neal Adams.
And please do keep Adrian Roy's colouring it was genius.

Kind regards,

C.Huisman
The Netherlands

Below are just a few reactions of fans:

Y'know, when I was at the NYCC on Sunday, waiting on line for a
sketch, I overheard these two guys nearby talking. Basically the
gist of their conversation was that Breyfogle was one of the greatest
Batman artists ever, and DC was really screwing him over by not
giving him new work.

So obviously the demand is out there for both TPBs of the Breyfogle-
drawn issues, as well as new work by him. But apparently someone
influential at DC has an axe to grind against Breyfogle, and that's
why we aren't seeing any of this. It's a real damn shame :(

Been asking the same question for years now. All you'll get from anyone
at DC is a stone dead silence. Despite the run by Grant and Breyfogle
being one of the finest of the past twenty years there appears to be a
reluctance for it to be collected and released. When you consider that
other creators have been strip-mining the run (Clayface as Tim Drake?
Done by Grant/Breyfogle well before Hush, Batman tackling terrorist?
Done well before Miller got the idea) ever since DC obviously feel it's
not worthy, nor do they consider Grant and Breyfogle worthy enough to
return to any Bat-related project.

Ask them why. But you won't get an answer.

I don't have Batman In The 80's TPB since I have most of those stories but as far as I know there isn't any of the great 80's stories by Don Newton and Gene Colan collected anywhere.

Are you sure it was LOTDK #1 because he didn't do that issue?

Hahaha, loved SOTB, was really hoping that Norm would stay on that series back then.

Thanks a lot Cobb. :woot:

Gotta love Breyfogle.

Wow, so Grant basically got screwed over by DC and Breyfogle was an unfortunate victim. That sucks.

I love the last panel on this page. I noticed it last week and thought 'I have to post that on the Breyfogle thread'. more to come as I get through this chunk of 90's goodness. I haven't read lots of this stuff. I only really knew Breyfogle from the Knightfall era work, which frankly I find pretty horrid.

not all of Breyfogle & grant's work was that great, BUT YES there are those moments out there that need their own TRADE!

The entire run needs to be reprinted in fine hardcover!

Soft cover's fine with me, just get them out there. I mean these guys put together one of the greatest Batman runs (the Tec issues) ever, without relying on huge crossovers, but just good writing.

I love that they didn't just rely on the Joker, Riddler, Two-Face and all the other usual villains, but came up with great new sickos like Zsasz, The Ventriloquist, Anarky, Cornelius Stirk et el.

So here's my appeal to the powers that be at DC (hey that rhymes!), and whoever that editor Alan Grant pissed off, let it go, we want to see these issues reprinted and we'll buy it and you might even make some money out of the deal too.

I just bought some Grant/Breyfogle back-issues today. Great stuff, I'm definitely picking up more.

Never got any response, guys keep sending e-mails to DC!!
