Arrow When/should aliens of the DC universe appear on Arrow?

I for one think that Martian Manhunter could EASILY fit into this show. Considering that Season 2 made a serious and ballsy move by introducing super-powers, if we can have Mirakuru-Soldiers and The Flash, we can have the Manhunter.

If alien make-up is a huge concern for budget reasons, introduce Detective John Jones, and reveal him as Manhunter only minimally per episode. Since it seems likely the films are skipping out on him, I think television should embrace all non-film characters. Make a whole Justice Society of film rejects.

I dunno if I ever want to see aliens...maybe they could hint at them, but actually introducing them? I dunno. Maybe. If they were to ever do so, I'd love to see Martian Manhunter or even Superman.

MM would be great, though I think these kind of characters should probably be introduced via flash before making Arrow appearances, who knows though, could be cool to see Ollie encounter somebody as powerful as MM before anyone else.

Definitely Martian Manhunter. I think it should be alluded to that he's an alien but not actually come out and announce it. They should avoid grand scale takeovers if they introduce aliens.

I don't like the idea of aliens on Arrow. Perhaps if there's a major crossover between Arrow/Flash and any other CWDC shows, that'd be cool to see Arrow and Martian Manhunter, but I'm not feeling the jump between supersoldiers and alien life "because why not?"

I feel the same way about time travel on Arrow or anything that doesn't fit within Arrow's wheelhouse of soldiers and assassins and military and crime. Anything outside of that would feel like the writers don't get their own show.

I think as the Arrow/Flashverse grows, it will become more and more apparent that anything is possible in this universe. A natural progression could be:

Season 1: no powers, Season 2: supersoldiers, Season 3/Season 1 of Flash: Metahumans, Season 4/Season 2: Aliens

Season 5/Season 3: Magic
Season 6/Season 4: Time Travel
Season 7/Season 5: Cosmic Beings

I dunno, I think Arrow should stay more in the pocket. There's a reason Batman comics aren't about him battling the New Gods and White Martians. Let Arrow focus on the deeper more mundane themes. Let Flash (Or someone else) do all that cosmic stuff, and Arrow just deal with it in crossovers.

If they ever introduce Manhunter, he needs to be 'effin green. At least a couple times. How often did we actually see his true form on Smallville? Once? When Doctor Fate pushed him?

I was originally going to say that the Martian Manhunter should be in the Justice League movie instead, but, apparently, the Man of Steel screenwriter decided to be an A-Hole and say that no one who has ever been laid has heard of the Martian Manhunter and that he wouldn't work in a movie.

Given that, might as well bring him in.

Eh.

I think they should introduce at least 2 or 3 during the series run. Probably start at the end of S3 or S4.

MM, Hawkman and Hawkgirl/woman are at the top of my list as well. With the former, I like the idea of it being more of a "Is he or isn't he" slow reveal. With the latter, they don't have to even be aware of their Thanagarian orgins, they could simply be archelogists/explorers who use ancient artifacts to combat their enemies or what not. I would love to see Arrow and Hawkman butt heads on this show.

BTW, I'm surprised with all the Hal Jordan mention, no one suggested Green Lantern. He actually inspired this thread.

Aliens? That should be for the Flash TV show. I don't think it's going to fit in Arrow's world.

Hal Jordan isn't an alien.

Unless you mean Abin Sur.

Maybe I should have specified Green Lantern's alien ring given to him by an alien GL. BTW, I wouldn't mind seeing Hal show up a few times on Arrow before ever encountering Abin Sur.

I agree with this in that let Flash do the things they wouldn't in Arrow.

Exactly. Just because the universe has aliens in it doesn't make it a good Arrow story.

Doesn't make it inherently bad either. I think it'd be easier to pull off of Flash than on Arrow, but if they start introducing characters like MM it'd be disappointing to never see him make an appearance on Arrow.

It makes it hard to pull off, and I for one have never been disappointed at the lack of MM appearances in Green Arrow comics.

And I've never been disappointed in the lack of Slade Wilson, Oliver's family and constant flashbacks to the island.

Doesn't mean they're poor additions.

I would prefer they not bring aliens into Arrow's mythology.
