The one that kicked off this shared universe will bow out in its next season.

‘Arrow’ to End With Season 8 on The CW

“This was a difficult decision to come to, but like every hard decision we’ve made for the past seven years, it was with the best interests of ‘Arrow’ in mind,” series executive producers Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Beth Schwartz said in a statement. “We’re heartened by the fact that ‘Arrow’ has birthed an entire universe of shows that will continue on for many years to come.

We’re excited about crafting a conclusion that honors the show, its characters and its legacy and are grateful to all the writers, producers, actors, and — more importantly — the incredible crew that has sustained us and the show for over seven years.”

I will defintely miss this show but I feel that this is the right decision as it was starting to become stale (especially with the flash forwards). Looks like Oliver probably chose to sacrifice his life for the next crossover and Batwoman will probably take Arrow's place in the time schedule.

I’m saddened but I’m at peace with the decision.

Its time though part of me is sad.

Now finish up the future this season and set s8 in the present entirely. Also

At least we didn’t have to wait till May to find out.

I figured it had to happen sooner rather than later. I feel this season could have been the last, but a 10 episode final season sounds good too. I really hope it goes out with a bang. S7 had been pretty good. I really loved the Prison Arc.

I watched Amell's "Goodbye Arrow" video on Facebook. Pretty sad. I have been following him on facebook since before the first season. He's always been real good to fans on social media. Answering questions and what not.

Hope all the best for the cast for their future endeavours.

The end of an era. Im gonna miss this show but its time. It couldnt go on forever. But these guys will be back though, they will pop up in cameos in other shows and crossover events.

I wonder if this will lead to Batwoman being the replacement. Midseason series. Or with other shows being rumored, if we'll get news on on those. Like a Superman show that's been rumored.

Honestly we should grateful that this show lasted for 8 seasons instead of only receieving 2-3 seasons like the Netflix Marvel shows and 8 seasons is a long time. Season 2 is just phenomenal and I honestly think season 2 is the best season in all of the Arrowverse shows. Hopefully we will see Slade Wilson in the final season (I think we will see the likes of Thea, E1 Laurel, Quentin, Malcolm Merlyn and Moira in the final season)

The show had a good run. Amell’s video about getting ready to say goodbye was emotional. Excited to see how they end it.

End of an era. I stopped watching years ago, but I still feel just the tiniest bit sad to see it come to an end.

Amell’s video was touching. Say whatever you want about him as an actor, but there’s no denying that he cared about the show and everyone involved in it. He’s one of the most humble and down-to-Earth actors I’ve ever had the pleasure of watching and I hope he experiences nothing but success from here forward.

Good to hear Amell got his wish! Hope cutting back the episodes greatly reduce the filler!

Also, NO FLASHFOWARDS!!!!

The show had a great run and I can't wait to see what Amell does next. We'll always have the first two seasons and all the other shows Arrow spawned and for that I'm thankful.

I haven't watched the show for a couple years now, but I might have to watch the last 10 episode run that will presumably lead to Oliver's death in Crisis.

I'm glad it is not just me that hates the flash forwards. I just can't see the point of them.
Arrow, point... See what I did there? :rimshot:

Okay, I'll see myself out...
:toth

On a related note, I think it is time for the show to end before it gets bad. And if I am being honest, it is on the borderline at the moment with these flash forward elements this season. I hope they are not used in the next season. Although with only 10 episodes they should not need the filler.

The problem I have with these flashforwards is that they are set too far into the future for the main timeline (at the rate that it's been keeping in the series so far) to catch up to them. Flashbacks don't need to join up with the main timeline since they're already part of it, but flashforwards remain disconnected "What if...?" scenarios until they converge with the main timeline and become locked in.

If next season has flashforwards to something like the struggles of Oliver's final day, and if the episodes of that season gradually bring us closer to that day and reveal how everything gets to that point, then I think that could be more satisfying than the possible distant sad future flashforwards that we've had this season.

Yup, he's dying in Crisis.
Yep, I think a lot of us called this.

Though I recently changed my tune since it jumped up in ratings, thought it was gonna stick around longer. Should've stuck with my first instincts after Elseworlds, lol.

I think this is a good decision. I was never really into Arrow as much as other DC/CW shows, but I've been a casual viewer from the beginning and it feels like they've told all the stories they need to tell, so it's a good time to hang it up, imo.
