I can’t exactly tell you the first time I met Roddy Piper. It was years ago in the wrestling business. What I can tell you is that Roddy was a tremendous performer. He knew the wrestling business inside and out. He was one of the greats of all time. Roddy was always a complete asset to the pro-wrestling world. He loved the business and everything about it. There was no other job on the planet that Roddy Piper could have been better for.

I’ve felt the loss this whole week. I’ve got a bit of heartache, and Roddy is three years younger than me. He had a lot more to give the world to be taken from us at age 61. Wherever he is, I’m sure he’s smiling at Ronda Rousey right now.

I have a lot of great memories with Roddy. He and I ended up in a pilot called Tag Team. It was about two wrestlers who get kicked out of wrestling and end up cops. It was a great premise and was actually thought up by a four- or five-year-old kid. It never got off the ground, but we had a great time together shooting it.

I’ll remember Roddy as a guy who was willing to take a chance and put himself out there. When you took the handcuffs off Roddy, believe me, the handcuffs came off. We’re of the same vein: tell it like it is and stand up for yourself. People will come to see him as a cornerstone of the world of professional wrestling. He’s a legend and he always will be.

Rest in peace, Roddy.

Eva Marie news:

August 6, 2015 – Eva Marie is due for a huge push in the future because top WWE executives see a lot of potential in her.




This is according to Dave Meltzer in this week’s issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, who also reported in the spring that company brass wanted to give Lana a major push. However, it was reported last week that they have already lost interest in giving “The Ravishing Russian” a huge push, instead seeing her as a supporting player. WWE now sees Eva Marie as the potential golden girl.


Apparently the rocket on Lana’s ass, so to speak, is about to be switched to Eva Marie per the people at the top. To Eva Marie’s credit, she is busting her own ass in training now but they are going with the storyline of the woman that everyone shunned and made fun of for being so bad who works hard and makes herself into a superstar.

Pushing Eva Marie makes sense from WWE’s perspective because she’s been one of the stars of Total Divas for the past two years and therefore is one of the more recognizable female talents on the roster. The current storyline this season is that the women are mad at her for taking two years to finally wrestle and getting training on her own.

The storyline plan will likely be something where she’s the woman that everybody shunned for a couple years (she was signed in 2013) and made fun of for being awful, but then she works hard to gain people’s respect, while turning into a superstar among WWE Superstars and Divas.

Eva Marie also recently signed a deal with super-agent Brad Slater, who is also Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s agent. That’s why Johnson wrote a long Instagram message about her when she wished him a happy birthday a few months ago.


Thank you to my homegirl Eva Marie for this very cool birthday message. What impresses me most about her is that she has a certain drive and determination that can only come from someone who knows what it’s like to have been down and to have struggled. Eva’s struggle has clearly created a fierce focus in her which is so cool to see and here’s the best part… she’s willin’ to put in the daily hard ass work to achieve and accomplish all of her goals in — and outside of the ring. It’s a real pleasure working with and mentoring this woman. Road is long and we’re just gettin’ started.. With WWE and The Rock in her corner, Eva Marie should go far, but as always in wrestling, it’s no guarantee since her success will ultimately come down to how fans perceive her. And given WWE’s fickle nature, we’ll be probably be writing about a new flavor of the month sooner rather than later

She was not bad in her first match on NXT......at least she was better then the last time.

Watching Vampiro vs Pentagon Jr was like watching a Vince or Shane match from the late 90's-early 00's; a fun crazy brawl that covered up Vamp's rust. I can't even decide if it was the best match on the show, so I don't think it's match of the year.

I just finished the divas tag match. Love how much time it got and how serious it was taken. I didn't like Charlotte taking the pin, but I guess they want to keep it fairly even across the board to accentuate the feud between the three teams.

Loved the backstage segment with New Day, as well.

-Great opening from hhh (Pre taped) and to indtroduce hbk as our host, he was boss and he still has his classic mic skills, he made us laugh talking about brisbane, it's pronounced bris-bin but alot of people overseas mistake it for bris-bane

Neville vs Balor - Nxt Championship
Amazing opening contest a bit of one upsman ship between the two, would like to see them do battle again, balor retained with the foot stomp off the top rope

Fandango vs Adam Rose
- Eh, fun little match with some funny moments, fandango won with some kind of x-factor
Random: The crowd was so into fandango

R-Truth vs Luke Harper:
- i remember nothing except truth started a "Whoomp there it is" chant that was carried through the entire match, and luke harper uncharacteristically flexed his muscles for boos, haper won with the clothsline

BNB vs Randy Orton
- Great opening segment from barrett trash talking about australia XD he tripped walking down to the ring and tried to not laugh, then continued to talk trash, orton won with the rko after ducking a bullhammer, good match, orton was super over

- Heel promo from seth (Pre taped) talking about burying dean with a pedigree and being the baddest man in australia

Intermission:
- Jojo plugged the merchandise and the network

- Bo dallas interrupted jojo and talked crap about the crowd, shawn came out and hit sweet chin music, bo sold it like he was killed cause he laid there for 10 minutes after the kick, hbk said "ya'll enjoy the rest of the show, and you can booooooollllliiiiiiiiiieeeevvve, that"

Emma/Natalya vs the Bellas
- The bellas are hot, sorry but they are XD emma won for the home country pop, kind of a sloppy match but it was decent

Cesaro vs Owens
- Boss match, really physical, owens bowed and did cesaros taunt and told us to shut up, cesaro won after a swing into the cloverleaf which was awesome, i didn't like that owens tapped almost instantly though but i think they were running late cause the show was almost 30mins later than estimated

Rollins vs Dean - Brisbane Street fight
- Another fun match, i swear i could watch them go at it everyday, good heel work from seth, he grabbed a mic and was talking trash, we started a rollins is a ***** chant, he's like "What, you calling me a cat, you kiss your mothers with those mouths, i'm more of a man than any of you cowards in this arena, i am the wwe champion which makes me the king of this ring, hell the king of australia so get of your *****, and bow down to me"

*Dean grabs him off the 2nd rope mid speech into the electric chair position*

"Oh no oh shiiiiii-----" *Ambrose locked him in the figure four and rollins was screaming into the mic*

Tables and chairs, rollins belt and a kendo stick, rollins won by throwing powder into deans eyes and hit the pedigree

seth is getting so good at the pedigree now, he hit it like hhh would, i feel like they were trying to outsell each other, dean sold the belt whips like he had been impaled by spikes on a bed of fire

all and all it was a great show
