Where the Wild Things are.

never really cared for the book but i'll check out this movie.

i like the fact that the movie feels very indie.

It's a homage to old school American 70s cinema. The fly on the wall style is great when used properly.

It's up on AICN.

This was made with the best of intentions but it is going to be a spectuacularly epic fail at the boxoffice.

Nothing about this trailer will attract kids, imo.

The kid in me is confused, while the adult in me is awestruck!

I disagree. I think we don't give kids enough credit. Movies don't need to be full of colourful cartoon characters to attract kids. The idea of the fantastic or the unknown is often enough to keep them interested (which is why kids are so interested in dinosaurs). Plus Where the Wild Things Are is hugely popular. I work with kids under the age of 6 and all of them adore the book. I think this film could prove very popular.

That's all well and good. But selling something means you have to convince people that they should want to see the movie. That trailer with it's indie vibe is going to confuse more than excite children.

How many children's film have been made recently based on books expecting the "fan base" to turn out in droves?

And this is coming from someone that read the book so many eons ago.

^Again, I think you're underestimating kids. They'll see the big monsters, they'll see the playing, and the adventure, and that will interest them. Also key is that their parents will see this trailer. A decent looking kids film based on one of the least obnixious kids books of all time. For all the parents forced to see Space Chimps etc. that will be a big draw.

And there are tons of examples of kids turning up in droves to see film adaptations of thier favourite books. Harry Potter, Narnia, Coraline...all recent sucesses.

Plus, this will be popular amongst adults as well. It has the indie cred going for it, plus its based on one of the most famous kids picture books. Lots of people will go see it to relive thier childhoods.

I gotta say this looks great. The Music they used in this Trailer I think it was Wake Up from Arcade Fire is Brilliant and to tell you the truth I don't care how this does box office wise I just want to see it. Even though it would be nice if it 200 million.

ohmahgah
That trailer was fantastic, this looks absolutely wonderful. Great song too.

It has an indie-flick feel to it.

I kinda like that

Point taken. I guess my mind was more on Bridge to Terabithia, City of Ember, and Prince Caspian.

I watched the trailer 3 times :wow: my only complaint is that October 16th is sooo far away.

I agree 100% about Doc Watson's assesment of children. Thats exactly how kids are and how they work. I believe that a kid needs equel amounts of love, imagination and wonderment and there is to much lacking in the last 2 departments nowadays.

Me Either I can't stop watching this trailer. The Style feels so great and the song they used for it is great as well. But K.B is right October 16th is a long way away.

It may be a bit of a wait but at least it's going to finely be released.

That was a great trailer and I liked the song to it as well. Anyone know it?

Anyhow, this film offically stands on my #1 must-see films list and I really hope that it does well in the box-office, because I can already tell that this is going to be good.

The song is "Wake Up" by Arcade Fire off their 2004 Funeral album.

Even though this film is based on a children's book, the trailer doesn't give off the vibe that it is a childrens film. But I think the film looks incredible! The trailer really makes me want to watch it, it should be good!
