Where the Wild Things are.

So far I can't believe how much of an amazing job these guys are doing on this movie!!
I'm glad to hear that they are not trying to make this a children's movie. I think the story has a real darkness to it that all of us have experienced. Take that out and the story just wont have the same effect. On the other hand I'm glad they made the monsters not too scary. They are a great happy medium between friendly and gritty. I remember how awesome these characters were when I was a kid. I can't imagine how cool these guys will be to kids today being on the big screen.

CANT WAIT for this one!

Just finished the script not long ago. Damn, it's a great movie in the making. They spend a lot of time fleshing out max and making him relatable and real, and that you understand why he acts in certain ways and lashes out. There's not a moment in it where somebody can watch without feeling like they can psychologically or emotionally relate to feeling that way when they were a kid. Just awesome.

People are saying that they're terrified that this film is going to be released in October. I'm just hoping that it sticks around until the Oscars come up so that it can gain some more interest. But, I do think that children will be heavily interested in seeing this, when they see the trailer attached with 'Monsters vs. Aliens'.

I'm pretty sure Oscar consideration may be a reason it is going to be released in October.

BTW- I've been looking for the Script, can anyone PM me where I can find it to download?

Exactly, I'm going to bet that this is going to be one of the best films of 2009. This film, to me, is like the english/children's version of 'Pan's Labyrinth'.

I have no doubt kids are going to love this movie. I think its going to have great returns at the box office.

Wow...this looks epic. Though I'm a little worried about the reshoots. I really hope WB doesn't **** this up. They let Zack Snyder make a 3 hour Watchmen adaption with a $100+ million budget, but they get all worked up over this?

But, don't most movies go through reshoots?

It's not usually anything negative.

If they continue with bringing Maurice Sendak's books to the screen, Little Bear should be next. That would just be one straight acid trip.
Old post to quote but that would be interesting, to say the least.
Eh, I don't know about that. The Dark Knight, Pirates of the Caribbean, Lord of the Rings are all pretty ballsy PG-13.. just as much as anything from the 80's.
I wouldn't call any of those ballsy PG-13 movies. The Dark Knight had almost no blood or swearing. The Pirates of the Caribbean movies were soft PG-13 at best, save for a couple of things involving Davy Jones in the second and third ones. The Lord of the Rings had violence, sure, but most of the blood and stuff came from the orcs. The only heavy thing I remember was the catapaulted severed heads in the third movie. Not saying any of those movies weren't good, but they were nowhere near a level that would warrant an R rating. Titanic was a more ballsy PG-13 movie. That had boobies and an f-bomb.
Didn't the second Pirates movie have hangings in the beginning? A ballsy PG-13 movie doesn't necessarily equal swearing or blood. The type of violence and dark themes we saw in the movies DK88 mentioned are enough to consider those movies ballsy. Mainly because it's not something you would normally see in a movie with that rating. But rating talk is all moot point.

Back on topic.
Saw the trailer, along with the Terminator Salvation NIN trailer this is one of the best trailers I've seen this year. "Wake Up" by Arcade Fire was the cherry on top.

Just saw the trailer. Looks like a brilliantly-shot film. I loved the book, so I'll definately be seeing this.

I know nothing of the book, but man that trailer looks terrific! I am definitely going to see this!

Spike you are the man!

One of the best trailers what I've ever seen! Can't wait!

WB didn't front this it was originally done by Universal who dropped it after seeing A cut of the film and weren't impressed. WB picked it up and commanded re-shoots for a number of reasons includeing:

-Fearing it was "too scary" for children
-Not liking Max Records performance
-Script issues

Go back a few pages because we discussed all the behind the scenes stuff.

yes read the whole thread. it was opened in 2007. and it comes out 2 years later.
this movie didnt have luck

i think it will be liked by a lot of people but wont make a lot of money at the BO.

The interview with Spike with Drew McWeeney I posted a page or so ago cleared up alot of rumors about this project. Like that all the criticisms about the kids performance came from one psycho parent who's kid did not get the part, so they we're bashing the film on various boards saying that they seen a screening and the kid was horrible. And from what I gathered, the scary thing was overblown, and the script issues came down to fleshing out the beasts a bit more.

those parents who are forcing their kids into acting are insane :hehe:

The moms who have the beauty pageant daughters are inifinitely worse. Those girls with their Umpa Lumpa tans and pure white teeth genuinely scare the crap outta me.

when i see lindsay lohans mom i see the devil.

Has anyone seen this elusive teaser trailer that was attached to the Grinch?
