Which 2009 superhero summer movie will rule the box office? SHH! seems to have forgotten what a superhero is. Any movie with special effects seems to be a superhero movie now. Remember speed racer? GI Joe? Really? Well, everything but Terminator apparently.

why this thread in the Transformers forum?

I guess I'm asking if you think Transformers are superheroes or not.

I would say so.

Good vs evil. Autobots vs Decepticons.

And they are shown as "superheroes" in Transformers Animated.

Good vs Evil? They have good vs evil in just about every movie. So that would make Indiana Jones, John McClane from Die Hard, James Bond, and Jesus all superheroes.

I think my biggest problem is with them following Sherlock Holmes and Speed Racer. How the crap are they superhero movies?

Well....

they are heroes, lol.

Indiana Jones always ends up saving someone or a culture in his films. And the fourth one doesn't really count because bringing in aliens was a dumb idea anyways.

John McClane fights terrorists when no one else can; enough said.

James Bond is a secret agent. Wasn't The Avengers known as superheroes? Isn't Nick Fury known as a superhero? Both secret agents.

And Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead. No mere mortal can do that crap.

Plus he's a superhero in South Park.

I never said they weren't heroes. I wouldn't call them "superheroes" though.

Well, maybe Jesus.

And again, why the heck are we following Sherlock Holmes, Speed Racer, and such?

Regardless if they're superheroes or not, Transformers 2 is going to own the box office this summer.

Harry Potter will be the only competition that comes close or beats it.

who said that soeed racer has superheroes?

ohhhh...gotcha. mah bad.

personally, i do. you don't have a wear undies on the outside or a cape to be a superhero. you just have to dedicate yourself to the protection of the general good. however, the term 'superhero' is a term that is VERY MUCH open to interpretation. everyone has their own idea of what makes a 'superhero'.

Speed Racer, lol....

did anyone watch that movie?

And Sherlock Holmes, I wouldn't think of that character as a "hero", but it's starring Robert Downey, Jr...so that kinda makes sense why SSH! talk about Holmes.

Ok. So why not follow the new Terminator with Bale in it?

That's an ever better point. Harry Potter is more of a superhero than Transformers are. He has powers and fights evil.

TRANSFORMERS has no compo this year but the 3rd one might go up against Spidey 4

Well given Transofrmers has been presented in the comics by Marvel you could say it was justified to be put in here.

And yes I think it is likely to be a big box office hit.
