Summer 2009 Box Office Battle

People are overrating Transformer on this board Like they did with Indiana Jones last year . I guarantee you Star Trek and Terminator will make more than Transformers
I guarantee you that Star Trek will not:o

That's fine about TF2, but why do you think Terminator and Trek are the one's to beat it?

I can bet you all my dvds, my car, and my left foot that they will not.

Transformers may not be number one (Harry Potter may beat it) but the chances of star wars or terminator beating it are slim to none.

I will throw in my testicals if anybody wants them along with Sentinel's bet. Trek and Terminator will not be in the top 3 nor will both beat Potter or Transformers 2.

At least not opening weekend-wise. It will be TF or HP that takes that spot.

But all bets are off as far as long term money making is concerned. Any of these movies could have great, or terrible word of mouth.

Star Trek won't beat TF or Harry Potter. I can guarantee one thing , it will be quality wise the best film of the summer. It will be much better than TF

You are getting into some rough water saying that quality wise Star Trek will be better than Potter 6.

Because the last few Star Trek films sucked and nearly all the Potter films are very good.

There could also be a surprise hit among the lower hyped Summer releases.

I mean, whoever thought that Tropic Thunder and Pineapple Express would be huge summer hits of 2008?

1. HP & the Half-Blood Prince
2. Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen
3. Terminator Salvation
4. Up
5. Wolverine

This one is different and everyone can see that. Its finally getting a blockbuster budget and has a great cast and director. I won't comment on Potter never watched one film does not interest me at all

That's what they all say:o Trailers, cast, crew, and budget don't mean anything. Quality is really subjective anyways so we can't really argue that unless we use a quantitative site like RT.

Transformers: ROTF is going to maul everything this year. Only HP has a chance at touching it and given that no HP film has passed $300 million since the first, I'd say ROTF is a lock for #1 this year.

So it looks like most of agree that Potte and Transformers will be battling for spots 1 and 2. I will add a poll.

We will find out May 8th

That isn't really true. If you increase the budget of movie by 300% from the average of it's predecessors, you will end up with something completely different. This would be true with any film franchise.

I hope star trek doesn't get squeezed out this summer, I think transformers already has the summer won, but trek's gonna be the better film. That and public enemies

Budget doesn't affect the quality of a film. A 300 million movie doesn't mean it will automatically be better than an 80 million movie. SM3 had a huge budget and yeah well that sucked.

1. Harry Potter
2. Transformer 2
3. Up
4. Terminator: Salvation
5. X-Men Origins: Wolverine

As much as I'm interested in the new Star Trek movie, for some reason I can't see it making the top five. I will be happy to be proven wrong though.

Night at the Museum made huge money and I think it will beat Up just because of the name recognition.
