Which CBM brought the most joy to the fan community?

I think we can all agree on the top 2 but what is third place is the real question. I'm going to say it'd be either Iron Man, Spider-man 2 or X-men 2. I'm kinda surprised to hear so many saying DOFP. I love it but I don't think it made real cultural waves in the fan community outside of superherohype. It was well received and it made lots of money but it's not in the same league of buzz as the three I just mentioned. I'd also say Batman Begins could be in the discussion(if it hadn't been so eclipsed by Dark Knight 3 years later).

X:FC brought me a lot more joy than DoFP. I was 'meh' on DoFP but X;FC blew me the **** away.

I think the superhero movie that brought me the most joy was Spider-Man 2. I was elated after seeing that movie. However after seeing TDK I said 'that' (TDK) is the best CBM I have ever seen but I can't say the most brought me the most joy if that makes sense.

However, I will say that when Thor faces off against The Hulk I literally got goose bumps, no CBM movie has don't that to me before or since but the movie (Avengers)as a whole hasn't brought me the most joy.

As a fan community it is probably the Avengers that has brought the most joy but personally speaking I thought the movie was okay.

The Dark Knight is pretty much the reason why the Oscars now have 10 nominees for Best Picture and The Avengers is one of the biggest films in the past few years (second only maybe to Avatar). I'd put them in the top two probably in that order

The Dark Knight. The hype and joy when it came out is something I've never seen before or since for a CBM. 6 years later it's still heralded as the best by the consensus.

The Avengers is a firm second place for generating joy to the fan base.

This.

Are we taking into account the time before a movie came out or just the time after release? Because if we're including the time before I'd say Avengers edges out TDK on the overall joy generated scale. I say this because I think the initial whining over Heath Ledger being cast was greater than the initial whining over Mark Ruffalo being cast.

Yeah, TDK and Avengers are the two obvious ones that stand out.

I think a wild card pick could be Batman Begins though. While not on the scale of reaching as many people as the afforementioned movies, there really was a palpable sense of joy in the Batman fanbase after that movie came out rescued that franchise. After years of wondering when another Batman film would see the light of day, it was a pretty big deal.

Overall, I would say Avengers is probably the winner though, mainly because of the "joy" thing. TDK was such a dark movie...the feeling it created for me personally was more awe and pride, rather than just joy. It was bittersweet too because Heath wasn't around to see his performance celebrated.

The answer is obviously between The Dark Knight and The Avengers, followed by Spider-Man 2.

For me it's IM1. But the rest I'd say Avengers.

Other than Avengers and TDK,X2 and SM2 did something similar back in the days.

Other than Avengers and TDK which are obviously tops, I'd say SM2. I don't even care for Raimi's series but the hype and jubilation surrounding the movie at that time were pure fandom euphoria.

Either TDK or Avengers. It has to be one of them.

For me personally, it was TDK. The gradual hype leading up to it was a phenomenal ride, from pre-production to that Joker teaser to the release itself. Then to not only see it pay off but receive such monstrous success was a very unique experience that I haven't had before.

I remember when it crossed that $1 billion mark, fans all over the internet went crazy. It didn't just revive the Batman film franchise, it brought a unity to the fanbase on a scale we haven't seen in a long time, and that we arguably haven't seen since then.

Pretty much this.

From personal experience, Superman (1978), Batman (1989), Batman Begins (2005) and Man of Steel (2013) are my favourite cinematic CBM experiences and the atmosphere built within watching the film at that moment, for the wider 'anticipation' and joy of the film, of those four, MOS was the best in the screening I was at.

Probably Avengers even more than TDK, since it had the extra chuckles. But I personally left TDK more ecstatic.

1) TDK
2) Avengers
3) Batman '89
4) Spider-Man

Batman v Superman will find it's way onto this list ... where it ends up, who knows.

I have to admit, I didn't think that much of Avengers, good fun but otherwise kind of forgettble....sorry everyone, just my opinion.

But TDK, different story. IMO the quintessential Batman film, it delivered on every level and firmly reestablished Batman's place in the cinematic superhero pantheon (Batman Begins started him back on track, but TDK absolutely did it ).

Still haven't seen film of its equal. I loved, loved, loved Man of Steel, but I can admit that it didn't even come close to doing for Superman, what TDK did for Batman.

I was travelling around the globe when TDK came out, so I read the synopsis online and thought, "****, how are they going to fit all that in, it's going to be another mess, like Batman and Robin."

Being totally wrong about that was sheer bliss ! Like I said, TDK delivered the goods on every level.

Cheers.

This really has little to do which was the better film IMO.

I can't speak for the fan community but for the nerd community in my area, it was definitely the Avengers. I'd have to go back to original Star Wars to see something that gave those folks I knew in the community more joy. It was just something on screen they never ever thought would happen.

Joy??? Simple...Avengers.

It's the only movie I've ever been to where the entire crowd jumped out of their chairs cheering while the movie was still going (during the Hulk/Loki scene). Also, the fan service dream moments, like Thor's hammer hitting Cap's shield, caused cheers and applause in theaters. It was the ultimate geek fantasy come to life.

The Dark Knight is a really good movie with one of the best performances in comic book movie history (if not THE best), but "joy" isn't really the word I'd use to describe the emotions it created.
