MCU and X-Men for definite, I'm also looking forward to what the future of Star Wars holds and the Universal Monsters universe could be interesting.

I guess it kind of already exists really but if Disney are rebooting Ducktales I think it could be interesting to see a fully realised Disney Toons universe with stuff like DuckTales, Darkwing Duck, Tale Spin, Mighty Ducks, Bonkers... Mickey, Donald, Goofy.. Pete could be a corrupt Mayor or something.

They could reboot The Rescuers and have the Rescue Rangers as background/minor characters and spin them off in to their own film/show (or vice versa).

I liked the sound of the Universal Monsters one, based on the Mummy synopsis we got.

MCU, FOX, Star Wars and Transformers

DC
X-Men
Marvel (not as into it as I used to be)
Universal
Transformers
Hasbro

Ummm... I know Batman was older in the film, but I'm not sure the film was actually ABOUT aging. Though who knows, you may be onto something. :cwink:

Another cinematic universe I hadn't thought of is that King Kong/Godzilla universe. Although that seems limited; while they can certainly include a lot of other monsters like Mothra and Rodan, I don't see any of them getting their own features. I think only Kong and Godzilla will have their own solo films. Though maybe we'll get some sort of film that features ALL of them going to war. That could be cool.

That'd be cool. All the monsters f***ing stuff up. Then Godzilla has to return to restore the balance.

Sitting at the ocean floor like "g**damn..."

Maybe Batman was a metaphor for going senile. It makes so much more sense to view it that way.

Again?

Well, Mothra did get her/his (she had a son) own trilogy in the 90s.

I remember back in the 90s, Frank Miller and Todd McFarlane teamed up for a Spawn/Batman comic. It's absolutely terrible, but it's a lot of fun if you read it imagining Frank Miller as Batman and McFarlane as Spawn. Because Batman comes off like a cantankerous old prick yelling at kids to get off his lawn (you could play a drinking game with how many times he calls Spawn a "twit"), while Spawn just comes off like a more sensible, easygoing guy.

At the moment I'm probably most curious about how James Cameron will expand his Avatar-universe. Unlike the current and upcoming cinematic universes that is something that really feels like a blank page at the moment. A universe where Cameron has the freedom to do whatever he wants.

How else can it go? Godzilla established that Godzilla is a natural restorer of balance. He's not going to enter this fight with some vendetta nor will he be a villain. He wasn't even technically a hero. He just arrives and gets the job done.

Not necessarily a cinematic universe but I totally see what you mean, and agree. First movie was really good, hindered by a lack of originality plot wise but not to the detriment of execution. From here on out it can go anywhere over the next several films.

I was always a big Universal Monster nut, especially when I was younger. I would hope the first movie is good to build up excitement but can't say that excitement is already there.

Don't think X-Men has branched into a full-fledged cinematic universe either. They are obviously trying to steer the ship in that direction. Apocalypse is in a unique position to kind of be the end of an era, but also lay a foundation for what comes next, so the next few years could be interesting. It has been a good run, I am glad Singer came back, but I do feel like the time has come.

DC, at this point, means disappointing cinema. I do think the trailers look good for SS, but I have no interest in that movie. They've turned their heroes into borderline villains, and now a movie about villains before their adversaries are given a proper treatment. They've lost my benefit of the doubt.

I've always been a huge Marvel comics fan, and I've always wanted to see movies play out like the comic books, which they have done after great X-Men and Spider-Man movies paved the road but left something to be desired.

Rogue One looks cool, Force Awakens was passable, enjoyable...but certainly not exceptional. I know this is probably not the favorable opinion but I kind of miss Lucas. Not interested in Boba Fett or Han Solo, more excited for Episode IIX. If they want a Star Wars movie every year, I can see the excitement draining out quick.

Marvel/DC, Star Wars, Harry Potter, and the monsters. They're either preexisting crossovers (Marvel/DC and the monsters) or have born new stories organically, (Star Wars and Harry Potter). Everything else has either lost me due to bad product (Transformers, GI Joe), or hasn't given me any reason to care, yet.

The premise is trite is all I'm getting at.
I don't really need to see another Final Wars American or otherwise.

Aside from superheroes, I am most interested in a revival of the Universal Monsters series.

I'm a little baffled by the Transformers EU.

I just don't see how each 'spinoff' besides the origins movie will be able to differentiate from each other. Marvel has a hell of time doing it with their movies, and with (MOSTLY) great success.

Giant robots? Hell, the past TF movies had a hard time giving them arcs, or characterization, without having a human cypher.

I'd like to see Transformers with other Hasbro movies. I have to see a movie with Optimus Prime and Snake Eyes in it before I die.

Yeah I would rather see TF (and it will happen) interact with GI Joe. But creating a in-house universe with spin-offs and stand-alines for TF with just the robots is redundant.
