Screentime is limited.Hawkeye had to get the shaft last movie. With the Maximoff twins Im expecting some other hero to get the shaft. So who do you think itll be.

In terms of plot relevance maybe Thor but until we see the movie (or at least are much closer to release) it's still a bit early to tell

There's always the chance that Whedon wrote a team movie where all of the members got a fair amount of screen time.

I think everyone will get their moment in the film, but if I had to place a bet on who will have the least screentime, my money is on Thor. Renner will get more screentime to make up for last time. Widow gained popularity due to TWS. Cap and Iron Man will always be number 1 and 2. Hulk doesn't have a solo franchise, and they want to push for one, so I see him being active. Thor has a safe 3rd movie coming, is the least connected to Earth/Ultron, and last film the villain was his brother. I can see him being the least emphasized this go.

Part of me actually wants to say Natasha, if only because of Scarlett's pregnancy and the fact that she got a major role in TWS.

But I'll chime in with the idea that Thor will probably get shafted this time around. He's the least popular of the big four, but he's already been established enough so that it's not a huge loss to focus less on him in favor of more screen time for characters like Hawkeye, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch.

Actually thinking about this, maybe Vision? He'll unlikely be introduced until the second half of the movie, if not later

Probably Thor.
Hawkeye is said to have a big part this time out.
Hulk's only show is in Avengers at this point,so he's good.
RDJ is always going to get focus, but he's also coming off a huge solo film and presumably has no new solo film in the near future.
The Twins supposedly have a big part of the plot.
Widow will likely get a fair share to appeal to certain demographics.
Cap is secure, since they wanna get as much outta Evans before he jumps that train.

So yeah,I'm guessing Thor.

-Captain America and Iron Man are the main characters, so they're safe.

-Hulk is said to have a larger role in this one.

-Hawkeye is too.

-Nick Fury has a diminished role, so "swap" him for Hawkeye.

-Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver are going to need at least a few scenes to establish them and their story (lets say swap Coulson and Hill for their screentime).

-I imagine Black Widow will be a bit diminished due to Scarlett's pregnancy.

-Thor is just sort of there.

I'd say Thor most likely, along with Fury. Thor seems to have the least to contribute to the plot unless they talk about Infinity Stones, and even then only if he knew the Aether and Tessaract were two of them. And Fury is behind the scenes now (I don't know if you can call that "shafting").

I'm going to be annoyed if Thor gets shafted. He didn't show up till like 25 minutes into the first one, I'm pretty sure he had less screen time than everyone except Hawkeye, and he is my favorite Avenger.

Thor will probably primarily contribute special effects and outsider humor (and eye candy for those who appreciate huge arms), Nick Fury will basically be the Maria Hill of this, and I think Wanda may actually get a bit more emphasize than her brother. I have nothing to back this up, it's just a feeling. I feel as though QS will get the Hawkeye role of this one.

Steve is fairly popular and they're probably going to want to do better with him because of WS, so I think he's going to be a big player.

Tony for obvious reasons will, for better or worse, be almost the prime focus.

Bruce has nothing else going on, so if they want to further pitch to the studio that Hulk's popular enough for another solo film, this is their only chance until maybe Avengers 3.

The mistakes of the past will be forgiven with what Hawkeye has. And Widow by extension will likely get a prominent part.

and finally, I fear that Vision may be more or less be a dues ex machina, so he may have the combined importance and screen presence of Selvig and The Other.

I think it's hard to judge since this will be more of a normal ensemble piece, where they already know each other and should have more interaction. I'm not so interested in comparing screen time since that doesn't mean that the most interesting things happen with the character that has the most.

For example, Hulk (not Banner) will definitely have the least screen time again, for obvious reasons. He'll still do some very cool things.

As the story shapes up it makes sense that Thor isn't the center of attention (that's obviously Stark) but there's plenty of things to do to make Thor a very vital part of the movie. He's imo the most interesting guy to play on when it comes to the differences of the Avengers, and they are a team of individuals. The speculation that Ultron might try to turn Thor against the others is probably the most interesting speculation I've heard about the movie as well.

I'm going to remain hopeful that Whedon writes a proper ensemble piece instead of chasing negative things to pick on. At least for a while longer.

I have a feeling it's gonna be Thor but I'd love to be wrong on that. Obviously he had the connection to Loki in Avengers but this time around I think a big part of his story will be the loss of people close to him. Someone dying like Selvig.

Still wanna see some great Thor action.

I don't think anyone will be 'shafted' to any real extent. The second film means new rules. The first film, by necessity, had to segregate the characters for their introductions and establish a lot of groundwork. This time, Whedon can hit the ground running, with the entire team involved right from the starting pistol. There working together at the beginning will also likely mean that their arcs and what not will involve the changing of their group dynamics, that they are all a part of.

I really think the doom and gloom of this thread is unwarranted. We really haven't heard enough information to be making definitive assessments of each character's role.

QS, because nobody can focus and snap a shot of a running Pietro

Wow after voting and reading the thread it looks like people agree with me that Thor is going to get the shaft..
Really hope we are wrong because I too like Thor as my favorite Avenger..
With the magnitude of Ultrons threat one would think Thor should play a big role in his demise..

I think you're all wrong about Thor getting the least focus. I dont see that happening considering how much people love Thor. It might be Quicksilver because the siblings might be introduced together as a whole and more likely Scarlet Witch will gets the more focus. Or it will be Hawkeye simply because he's the one the least people seem to care for.
