-A criminal sent out by a mastermind to specifically murder the Waynes, as presented in the comics.
-A random thug committing a random robbery, a la B89.
-A humanized down-on-his-luck man affected by an economic depression just trying to get by, as presented in BB?

current status quo: Joe Chill was a random mugger in the DCU
I prefer that.

The first answer was the silver age/bronze age one, when Lew Moxon ordered the kill after the first batman escaped him.

^^^ not having actually read any current stories (other than one-shots), i wasn't aware of that. thanks. i guess that would go with the second choice then.

let's keep the silver/bronze age one in there just to have that extra choice.

Is this a refrance to the Tim Burtand 89 Batman movie????

The reason I ask is because in that movie Bruce's parents were killed by Jack Napier who would become the Joker not Joe Chill.

I hate HATE that version
Joe In the Comics was just a average thug in moden times
Silver age he was Hired
but either way the comics were the best
Batman Begins was good
except someone killed joe which I didn't like
I would of liked to him get off and disappear
so Batman would never know where he is
but I understand in "movies" you need to change this
but the comic book version is the best

average criminal just mugging someone and killing them, never knowing what he'd create

uh I hate Batman 89 because Joker made batman.....so corny

oh, off topic, 2000. how do you pronounce where you're from. my in-laws, who are from long island, say it's pronounced "rock-chester", which i have never heard of. i say it's "ra-chester". they say it's a regional thing. do you pronounce it "rock" or ever heard it that way?
