I still can't believe they cut out Rasputin when they made the Broadway musical a few years back. His song was the best part of that movie and rivals some of the best of the Disney villain songs.![]()
Free on Tubi for anyone who wants to revisit it.

I never saw the musical but my only guess is they were trying to make it more realistic.WTF? Isn't he the main villain? How can they cut him? lol
Glad to see Last Unicorn getting so much love. Get the Wachowskis on the adaptation... Dollar, dollar bills ya'll.
After LU?
Hmm...
How about a live action Flight Of Dragons?
A lot less well known than Unicorn but a Rankin/Bass production none the less. I can't say as some that the original is BETTER than Unicorn, that seems way off, but... A tale with a lot of potential for a modern remake I think.
Titan A.E.? So-so execution but a good idea for a film.
Coraline? With the other Laika films I think they all are perfect fits for the format and yet... (I know I'm gonna get hate for this but...) I feel that of those films Coraline is the most lackluster and off putting with a GREAT idea at the core. So why not give it a remake?
Heavy Metal? We've got a glut of super hero films based off comics... We need more of all the strands of graphic based entetainment. Get some directors and writers of note and challenge them to adapt the original films anthologies or come up with new ones. The tech exists now for sure to realize those stories even on a modest budget.
Transformers the Movie and Spirited Away.
Didnt Michael Bay already make that happen? LOL.
That explains why I couldn't find the Broadway version of that song.I still can't believe they cut out Rasputin when they made the Broadway musical a few years back. His song was the best part of that movie and rivals some of the best of the Disney villain songs.
But anyway, I wouldn't mind seeing a live action Shrek just to see how horrifying it could be.
Like Drizzle said, they wanted to make it more realistic, so they cut out all the magic and replaced Rasputin with a fairly generic Soviet soldier sent to hunt Anya who *sigh* OF COURSE falls in love with her. It's fine, and he gets a good song, but nothing compared to Rasputin, Bartoc and 'In The Dark Of The Night.'WTF? Isn't he the main villain? How can they cut him? lol
