Sci-Fi Lilo & Stitch-The Live Action Remake

Certainly saves on the CGI budget. Also judging that this was originally meant for Disney+, I assume the budget for this is relatively smaller than their other more recent theatrical adaptations.

I don't think it'll probably be very good if it's on Disney+ or in theaters, but in one case it immediately fades into obscurity never to be heard from again, in the other it rakes in probably a ton of money and then in 20 years people might actually vaguely remember that time they did a live action Lilo and Stitch.

Or in 20 years the Gen Alpha kids will have nostalgia for all the live action remakes and they will be reclaimed as "misunderstood masterpieces"

This is probably going to win a lot of people over with the cuteness factor between Stitch and the actress playing Lilo. If there's one thing we've learned from Grogu and Baby Groot in recent years it's that cuteness sells.

Stitch looks kinda cute... so it's got me there at the very least. Though, knowing the story and themes, I might need to hold off until it's actually on D+ before I'm mentally prepared for it.

I could see Cobra Bubbles being an antagonist in the beginning if he's a government agent working to contain Stitch. But that all changes once Bubbles sees the good in Stitch and realizes something much more dangerous is pursuing him in Gantu.

Based just on the trailer, I'd say they expanded Cobra's role into that of an antagonist and got rid of Gantu.
Yeah, I didn't immediately catch that they turned Cobra from being former MIB turned social worker to outright pursuing Stitch.

About that……

The Pleakley thing is a reach. I don't think there was any other reason for them to have tech to disguise themselves more convincingly as humans other than to save on the CGI budget and have more facetime for Galifianakis and Prince Anders.

And as for the reversal on the tourism joke?

And as for the reversal on the tourism joke?
There could be more validation to that but given the guy in the live action movie doesn't appear to be a tourist, it could just be an homage to the ice cream joke from the original. It's hard to tell without context.

have to say they could not have picked a better Elvis song for that trailer :D

I will say this , though: I like that the scale seems to be more intimate, and that it doesn't look like one of those bombastic "videogamey" Disney live action adaptations.

Trust me, it could be worse.

*Has Vietnam flashbacks of "Suspicious Minds" in the Argylle trailer* :o
Don't remind me of the slow downfall of Matthew Vaughn movies. I liked every single one of his movies until and including Kingsman. But when he made Kingsman 2, that was the beginning of the end.

I truly thought he was making some of the most charming films of their kind... and then we've reached Argylle...

Missed opportunity to have Stitch hijack Frozen, Tangled, and Moana. 🤭
