Surprised no one has done this already.

I am curious to see which Pirates movie was people think was the best (with the love the new one seems to be getting), so here we go!

My ranking:

CotBP - 9.5/10

DMC - 7/10

AWE - 4/10

Dude, add a poll... lol.

1. COTPB 20/10 (instant CLASSIC)
2. AWE 9/10

3. DMC 3/10

Poll added...my computer is slow today.

So this is like the matrix trilogy all over again.

Depends on who you ask. Some hated the second one and thought the third film finally was the rightful POTC sequel we deserved (me). And others believe that the first and second film are great and are still waiting for an actual third (Spidey-Fan).

I liked all three of them. And, my favorite is the original because not only did it have the best story but it was a classic Pirate movie as well.

Yeah, dude- I think that might be the problem with this thread if you were trying to single out how many people liked what SEQUEL more (DMC or AWE). Due to our differing opinions... because, I'm willing to bet ALOT will vote for the first, lol.

I was more curious about the third one in relation to the first because I see many posts in the official thread proclaiming it the best, and I want to see exactly what the break down of that view is here.

Which sequel is the best is another question that I am less curious about. It seems this is getting more love than DMC thus far, so I think AWE would win. While my view is on the opposite end, I am also a realist.

I expected CotBP to win, just like in an SM forum I would expect SM2 to win.

I can't speak for others but I never said that AWE is the best. I said that it's the most fun. The original is still the best but the "fun" level was raised on the third film because of the great humor and the amazing action sequences.

I see many of those posts there. Wasn't talking about anyone specifically.

I am interested to see how many feel that way.

Yeah, I agree with Catman in those regards. The third one is definitely more fun- it was hilarious, trippy, made me feel like I was on the ride during a scene, and the action was amazing.

But, the first was definitely the best and better made film.

The writers already revealed what happened. When they did the first movie they included everything they wanted to see in a Pirate movie. Then, when it came time to do the sequels they weren't sure what to do. For the most part, however, Elliot & Rossio are fantastic writers. They wrote Disney's Aladdin, Mask of Zorro, etc.

WOW!!! They wrote Aladdin? That's my ALL TIME FAVORITE ANIMATED DISNEY MOVIE!!!! :wow:

No wonder I've always placed POTC: COTBP very high as an all time Disney CLASSIC.

Wow, I pretty much love all their movies!

And yes, while Godzilla wasn't all that great, I think I'm one of the few who at least liked it. And I know to other Godzilla fans saying that I'll probably get blasted, lol.

Haven't seen "Small Soldiers" in a while, but another excellent movie. I still can't believe they got it to be PG-13!

But the above two might mainly be due to nostalgic value, because I can't see how SS can have that low of an imdb rating. But, then again- Ghost Busters isn't that high either (frighteningly so, whose rating these movies over there? (GB:7.6))

I still remember going to Burger King and getting an Aladin toy in the meal. :)

I wouldn't go as far as to say Godzilla was horrible, but it was mediocre.

Now Aladdin and Mask of Zorro were phenominal!

True.

The matrix comparison's better though because of how the movies were made.

True, Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions do both go together like one story like these are supposed to (while I think AWE isn't that great at doing so, but that is just me).

I love all three,

tCotBP 9.5

DMC 9.0

AWE 9.0

All three are great but thats how I see it.

The original has something too it that the other two where not able to re-capture

my rankings

Curse 10/10
DMC 8/10
AWE 9.8/10 (its that .2 that is missing lol)

The awesome sword fights?

No I thought both DMC and AWE actually uped the anti in terms of action

there was a euphoric blend of everything in Curse, there are tones, styles and themes that are different in DMC and AWE that makes each movie sweet in its own right, but I think Curse balances everything...that possibly is it
