Which storyline from the comics do you hope to see?

If Kraven and Black Cat are in the movie together, ideally I'd like to see them rip off aspects from the first Puma two-parter and substitute Kraven for Puma.

ie Have a scene where Kraven gets the drop on Spider-man and Spidey only survives by the intervention of Black Cat, maybe he drugs Spidey by hitting him in the face with a potion.
And have Kraven track Spidey down to his apartment and bust in the window. He has to be a great hunter to live up to the name. But, he doesn't care about who spidey is under the mask type of thing.

I would like Electro as a sole villain for Spider-Man 4 threatening the whole world which relies heavily on electricity, and Spidey's first heroic act on a global scale, and not personal... so I voted for enter Electro.

If I had my way I'd combine Kraven's Last Hunt, the lead up to the marriage (i.e. cold feet) aspects of MJ and pete getting married from the marriage annual issue, the 30th anniversary Lizard story (for how to depict the good doctor as a monster and his goals, thus replacing Vermin from KLH) and ASM #44-45 (Lizard breaks Spidey's arm, Spidey in a sling for the climax of the movie and if there was a wedding at the end, Peter trying to hide it, a black eye, etc. for some nice Parker luck humor like in SM2).

BUT

As my idea for SM4 will likely never happen, all we know for sure it seems is BC is in the movie. I would not take from any particular story for that but rather adapt for the essence of her early appearances in the '80s as a comely thief/ally who is both seductress and untrustworthy, but not a through-and-through villain a la Catwoman. I'd also take a cue from SSM, the new cartoon, and not introduce Felicia Hardy, if at all, until near the end of the movie and keep BC as an anonymous presence for SM and not a new love in his life. I know Raimi likes connecting things to Peter, but like the video game that he helped guide, SM2, and the new show, less is more with this character and can add a new spin on a character as opposed to the clandestine origin in the first 10 minutes or the dippy reworked origin that was used for Elektra and a slew of other female characters in such a film. That I am opposed to.

Enter Electro?I know the 2nd PS1 spidey game went by that name(I own it)But when was it in the comics? Also Maximum Carnage would never work on film as there would be too much to introduce and none of the heroes who fought along spidey besides Black Cat and Venom could be in it.For certain villians these are the stories I'd like to adapted

Carnage-While I wouldn't like him in SM4 at all if He had to be in it,keep it simple.Adapt his first arc from ASM #361-363.
Lizard-I agree with DACrowe on his choices. However for the look of the Lizard I hope they go with something along the lines of Mcfarlane's design from ASM #313 and Spider-man #1-5
Kraven-Kraven's Last Hunt.Duh.
Electro-Something like Light the Night from Spider-man #39-41 by J.M. Demattis.
Vulture-ASM #240-241 Vulture origins explored by Roger Stern and Spectacular Spider-man #186-188 by J.M.Demattis(Can you tell I love his work?)

Yikes, the McFarlane Lizard was crap! It's gotta be Ditko all the way!

Kraven's Last Hunt would be a terrible idea to base the film on. It's too dark (People keep griping about the lack of humor as it is) and too much of the story takes place in Kraven's head. Spidey isn't even in half of the story, and MJ is merely a prop. The audience absolutely would not connect to a villain on some ridiculous suicide mission without his having been established first. KLH deals with Kraven's attitude after years of failing to defeat Spider-Man, which couldn't be developed in one story.

And this fan concept of substituting The Lizard for Vermin is beyond me. Vermin is nothing but a punching bag in the story. Defeated by Kraven and Spidey, thus doing nothing to make him a formidable villain. The Lizard would be a very expensive character to depict. They wouldn't spend the money for such a poor representation of the character, especially after taking so long to bring him into the series.

And the ending is extremely anti-climactic. There's no closure between Spidey and Kraven. If Spidey after having returned defeated Kraven in battle proving for once and for all that Kraven will never be his superior, then at least Kraven's suicide would make sense. But as written, it's not satisfying at all.

Especially after the problems some had with 3, this storyline would do nothing for the franchise.

This is exactly why I wouldn't want Black Cat in the film. Spidey is far more powerful than either BC or Kraven. To weaken him simply to make either appear a better character (As they do in the comics) is the wrong move.

If Kraven could get the upper hand on Spidey, with his spider sense, super strength and super speed, then he could easily defeat BC who has none of those things in her favor.

I wouldn't want the movie to entirely be an adaptation of KLH.Just to take certain scenes and elements from it.I don't think anyone wants a straight up adaptation of KLH.

It wouldn't be so much that I would want Spider-man weakened, more that I would prefer the Black Cat more powerful, to have her bad luck powers, which in that book gave her the advantage over Puma in that fight.
I'd also like her bad luck powers to be there to rub off on Spidey, making him more vulnerable as the movie progressed.
The bad luck powers probably won't be in the movie, but I liked that run in the comics, and if I was including BC I would go with that aspect to make her a more powerful opponent.

That's why I said about Kraven drugging Spidey, maybe throwing a potion of gassing him unexpectedly. Spidey's powers should make him hard to immobilise, but it shouldn't be impossible for someone less physically powerful than him to defeat him in combat if they are crafty with their methods.

edit: and if BC had her bad luck power, something that could take down Spidey wouldn't work against her necessarily. Should've perhaps clarified about the bad luck powers in the first post, but in saying that it would be based on that two parter with Puma, I took it as given she would have those powers. I'm like yourself , in that I'm wondering how a non-superpowered BC will be a suitable opponent in this film series. And i think the bad luck power would be more interesting than just making her superstrong like the 90s animated series did.

Brand New Day

Na but seriously maybe a mix of Kravens Last Hunt and the six arms saga. I think it would be cool to show there is a further mutation going on within Pete. Could add a horror element to it. And we know how well Raimi does horror.

JMS's Coming Home with Morlun. Or simply the Lizard story line. I'd also really like to see them bring back Venom at some point so they can, you know, make a film he's in for more than 5 minutes.

Brand New Day

The whole point of BND was to get rid of the Parker marriage. Something tells me they don't have to do that in the films. :whatever:

It might be the fact he isn't married in the movies...

Maximum Carnage was mostly a killing spree. 12 issues of such. I didn't like it at all. In my opinion, it could have been more, or at least smaller storyline.
The good thing about it, is that the people of New York was starting to do the same thing Carnage was doing. They were involving themselves into riot, killing each other, spreading chaos, which is Carnage ideology - a world without rules where everyone can do anything they want, which is what was happening in the end, until he and Shriek were stopped.
But Carnage probably won't be in this movie.

I don't know many great Lizard storylines. As for Kraven, they could take some elements of Kraven's Last Hunt, such as the burying.

As for Electro, I'd love to see the SM2 (PS1) storyline adapted, with the Bio-Nexus Device, turning Electro into a thunder god for the final battle. .

If they use Electro, I'd really like them to take some elements from the Light Up the Night storyline.

I don't know many great Lizard storylines.

There was a two part Lizard story I always loved that could be the basis for a decent movie storyline.
Conner's son is kidnapped by Stegron the dinosaur man who wants Conners to make a machine for him. Conners buckles under the strain and transforms into the Lizard and the Lizard goes after Stegron to get back Billy.
In a movie you could change it about a bit, just have some criminal, whether another super-villan scientist or whatever, kidnap the son to blackmail conners into handing over the new formula for limb regeneration he has been working on. 'No cops or the kid gets it. If the formula doesn't work, the kid gets it.'
So, Doc Conners has not yet tested the formula and decides to test it on himself, and it transforms him into a large robot that can change into a car, actually, probably best it changes him into the Lizard.
So, the Lizard goes out into the world on a rampage trying to find the villan who has kidnapped Billy and Spidey gets into a ruckus with the Lizard.

what about the lizard storyline Torment?

I never finished it, but I do remember I enjoyed it

I love those ideas david icke

I'd also love to see The Boy Who Collects Spider-Man on screen...somehow. I know it's really hard to come up with a way to make it fit in a movie, but I think it would be really awesome to have it kinda like an extra material thing.

Did you put Clone Saga and Brand New Day up there as jokes?

Anyway I like Kraven's last Hunt or Enter Electro best.

IT'd be cool, but honestly, I think it would work better for The Spectacular SPider-Man. The films ahve to focus on the characters and the story, and not have a sub plot about the boy who collected Spider-Man. It would be cool though.

Yeah I agree on that. That's why I'd love to see it as an extra material thing, like a mini-film or something. That would be awesome!

Thanks man, really cool of you to say that.
I just went and dug out my old Spidey annual from the late 70s that had that story.
But yeah, having Doc conners actually having the Lizard charging out with a reason for his actions would be good, and having him test the formula on himself for an additional dramatic reason would be good, other than just because he wanted to be fully able to play his old Nintendo games again.

They integrated it into that two-parter from the 90s animated series quite well, and they changed the gender of the kid for some reason.
Kid sidekicks are not always a good idea(see Robocop 3), but if you could work out a way for the kid to be involved in the plot as an active participant(like the cartoon version) as opposed to being kidnapped, it could be good. If they pulled that one off they would be selling more hankies in the cinema than at an ET porno.
