These are my ultimates . I think each Superman actor reflected their respective times .

Christopher Reeve was just perfect in every way.

He's still playing Superman whether he wears the suit or not.

According to Annette O'Toole and other cast members he is not Superman. Superman does not exist on Smallville. He is Clark. My vote is for Reeve. I liked Routh, but Reeve was the Superman I grew up with

I like Welling, but he's not playing Superman so I won't even count him. and I just don't like Cain. he was a pretty boy which Superman never ever was. he was an all american, not a backstreet boy. which brings me to Routh. imo the penultimate pretty boy Superman. what he does come in first place for is unquestionably being the most wispy man of steel. wouldn't even call him the man of steel with all that crying and pouting he did in SR which btw were the only two emotions he seemed capable of.

Christopher Reeve just flat out captured and amplified all the charm, strength, heroism, and compassion that is Superman. when you watch Reeve you truly feel you are watching a hero. his acting and touchdown of every emotion in STM was perfect. it's still captivating how Reeve could range from simply polite and calm ("don't worry miss, I've got you") to warm and sincere ("a friend") to aggressive ("I'll melt this box to your prison bars") to rage (screaming and flying upon uncovering dead Lois). it's all there just in STM. no other movie or show actor has been able to do what Reeve did and I doubt anyone ever will. plus, let's just face it, he ****in looks like Superman. the broad jaw and shoulders (ya, no shoulder pads, what?), his costume actually being the right color, the way he looked naturally in flight, etc. Christopher Reeve. there is no comparison.

I liked Brandon as Superman but he hardly got any screen time and he didn't have much to say, and it felt like he was channeling Chris Reeve at times. So my vote goes to the original Chris Reeve. Hey maybe Routh will get to be more of himself the next movie, or better yet, he'll get to play a part! I know what I said seams a bit harsh but Singer barely wrote Superman in a Superman movie. It seamed more like Lois's boyfriend comeback into her life movie.

How can Routh be better than Reeve?

How can the imitation be better than the real thing?

Routh is very good at what he does, but Tom Welling is the Superman of the 2000s.

Its without a doubt that welling has had his supes moment, an example of that is when he returned from the phantom zone and when he steped out of the crater it was just screaming superman the look on his face. Routh was good its just Singer that had that supes acting a certain way dam it singer dam it.
