The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Goblin, if you can call that a Goblin, laughed like someone was squeezing his testicles while he was doing it. The only good thing about him was his glider, which we saw barely any action from. He looked nothing like what the Green Goblin should look like. He didn't look like any Goblin I've ever seen. He looked like a haggard drug addict, with terrible dental hygiene, having a bad hair day.

Willem Dafoe's Goblin costume wouldn't win any prizes but it was giving off more classic Green Goblin vibes with the long ears, the yellow eyes, the white teeth snarl, and his laugh was music to the ears. Really Goblin-y. His glider was terrific, too. He did way more cool things with it, and his action scenes knock the drug user Goblin's one pitiful action scene away.

Squeezing his testicles lol. So he sounded like a chip munk lo.

Kinda OT, but if I had to rank the movie designs (from best to worst):

  1. Dafoe's Green Goblin
  2. The Lizard
  3. Dane's Goblin
  4. Electro
  5. Venom
  6. Sandman
  7. New Goblin
  8. RHINO
  9. Doctor Octopus

If you require me to explain myself, I will. :toth

That's pretty much my list miles except

1. Lizard
2.) Electro
3.) Sandman
4.) Harry Goblin
5.) Venom
6.) Green Goblin
7.) Rhino
8.) New Goblin
9.) Ock

I don't see how he looks like a goblin. He just looks like a human with a bad rash lol. Yes is glider was cool and I had no problem with the fight even if it was short but man he looks bad. I didn't care for his laugh either. Defo's laugh was a million times better an the first time I heard dehaan's laugh I wanted to laugh because it sounded like a little girl lol.

Agreed lol. Worst Goblin design and worst laugh definitely.

I agree about the body language and voice being a lot better for AG then toby but did you really just say that you didn't like Dafoe's goblin? His goblin performance is like the second best performance by a CBM villain behind only ledgers joker in dark knight.

I've never liked Dafoe in anything, really. At best I find him tolerable.

I have never really saw anything with him besides the spider man movies but has goblin in sm1 he was amazing!

A villain has to be at least menacing, if not downright terrifying. Dafoe, Molina, Church, Ifans, Foxx, DeHaan and Giamatti all fit that criteria to varying degrees. Franco and Grace simply fell short in that regard.

You would have to be real fraidy cat to be terrified by Foxx, Gimatti, and DeHaan lol. I don't think hardly anyone find them menacing. Especially not terrifying lol. Grace and Franco way more menacing than those cartoony villains. When Harry grabbed MJ in her apartment at night and slammed her against the wall, that more menacing than all ASM villains combined.

Eh, to each their own. I think we already know where we stand on this regarding Raimi's and Webb's films lol.

Giamatti was menacing and downright terrifying?? Giamatti was such a goofball in TASM 2, it was like he was a cartoon character!

Foxx and DeeHan weren't that scary either.

Edit: I see Doctor Octopus beat me to it. Hehe.

I found Foxx menacing as hell in the Ravencroft scenes. DeHaan's design looked creepy in certain shots. I guess I'm biased, I really liked the Webb villains.

We were more in a discussion of comic realism when I rated it then

Now we're talking about actual design and from there doc is boring

I can never be dishonest about my own opinion mate. Grow up.

You not mention realism in your post when you rate Ock at top, and nobody was talking about it around you when you in thread when you made that post either Brab. Everyone was talking about which villain had best design. You say Ock was definitive and rated him top.

I don't believe you think he now the worst and boring all of a sudden lol. Make no sense to have such a big opinion change in short time out of blue. I think you just saying it to try to annoy some Raimi fans who you don't like.

If we're talking about how menacing the villains are...

1: None of them.

Hey Doc I'm going to let you in on a little secret

I wrote both those lists

So I can tell you what they're based off.

Is English your first language by the way? Just wondering

That is what you say but it makes no sense for me because your posts don't say anything about them being ranked based on that, nobody else rate these villains costumes and looks on realism basis lol, just on how cool they look, and that's why I don't believe it.

English is not my first language.

I agree with that. I don't think ANY of the Webb villains were terrifying (though I did get the chills while seeing the Lizard bite off Dr. Ratha's head in a deleted scene). Green Goblin and Ock were both menacing in their own way, and I thought Harry and Venom were menacing at times as well. Sandman wasn't very "menacing" but at least he felt like a real threat.

The only villain that wasn't menacing to me from Raimi's films was Franco's Goblin. The only villain that was menacing to me from TASM was the Lizard.

I would say Electro wasn't menacing, but threatening, rather.

Electro caused a lot of destruction but he was too much of a joke for me to take him seriously. I liked the scene where he teams up with Harry (for 3 minutes) and attacks Donald Menken. Otherwise... meh.

That was a great scene, in my opinion.

I will say, though, I took him pretty seriously in the Times Square scene up until he got hosed down...

I was so disappointed with the Times Square scene. Could have made a really cool, intense battle. Marc Webb seems to be a terrible action director.

In the Times Square scene, I've always wondered why Electro didn't assume the form he had at the end of the film - in Oscorp and the sequence in which Spidey is chasing him through the city to the power plant.

He could have caused even more damage and have avoided the hose altogether

I agree. It's about execution, not how much carnage they caused. After all Arnie's Mr. Freeze in Batman and Robin put all of Gotham City on ice, but he was as threatening and menacing as Barney the Dinosaur.
