The Daily Planet Vol. 2: Superman News and Speculation Thread (🚨TAG SPOILERS🚨)

It's funny to see the same bad takes, particularly those who appear on the Film Threat podcast, about Superman getting upset.

I read a reaction from one of the gals who appears in that show complaining about this scene not feeling like Superman.

I truly wonder if it's people grifting or those that truly just like to be negative or don't understand the comic characters they cover.

Superman gets angry and jealous. Superman and Lois, Tyler got upset because the boys didn’t want to hang out with him. It was such a parent moment when you realize your kids don’t think you are cool.

Superman the animated series. The Darksied moments, Batman/Superman cross over, and my favorite Superman almost destroying Shazam then realizing he is a kid. Really good moment in the animated series.

I like that Nick has watched the film but David is waiting until the premiere so he can see it first with an audience. He is even avoiding spoilers ;)

And Superman raising his voice is something he does...a lot actually. People really need to read comics if they wasn't to pretend to understand the characters :)

Well perhaps more importantly, Nick confirmed on Kimmel that David is indeed about an inch taller than him. :o
Weird since every pic of them next to each other, and now especially the new clip just released, shows them to be the same height.

What exactly do they need an opening crawl to explain?
They don't NEED it, but it can give valuable added context to the story given that this isn't an origin story. The Batman's opening voiceover did the same thing. It established that Bruce was two years into his crusade and was uncertain whether he was making a difference, which set up his revelation that he wasn't making the difference he thought at the end of the film.

Opening crawls/story cards are a classic cinematic device. What are you folks going to ask next "does the movie really need sound?"

And sometimes they're just friggin' cool, aside from setting the stage for the movie.

Complainers like those is why we can't have nice things more often. Give me the kitchen sink in cinematic devices, please. And more.

Superman in the comics is such a fully formed character, with a wonderfully varied spectrum of emotions and a lot of personality and quirks.

Saw this on Twitter. Posted by a fan l. Just an example of what a great guy David is.

"Also, David Corenswet really is living up to the Superman name. I wrote him a message about how much Superman and Krypto have connected with my daughter and he couldn't be nicer in his response."

The best test of whether an actor is good for the role of Superman is if you can actually picture them as Superman in real life. David Corenswet passes that test with flying colors.

He’s not even trying, acting or playing the part. He just is Superman.

Exactly. It's the reason I was so able to buy into Routh as Superman and now Corenswet.

Unfortunately, I was never able to get that feeling from Cavill, especially after hearing about some of his supposed behavior on the Witcher set as well MOS.

I am currently watching F1 in IMAX. Superman and Fantastic 4 trailers are popping off the screen. You feel the power of Superman and the size of Gallactus.
