In the Times Square scene, I've always wondered why Electro didn't assume the form he had at the end of the film - in Oscorp and the sequence in which Spidey is chasing him through the city to the power plant.

He could have caused even more damage and have avoided the hose altogether

I always assumed that perhaps he didn't know he had all of those abilities yet since he first got his powers then. And I think that could have been a great explanation for why he didn't take the form that he did for the final battle (power plant). The issue is that we didn't see any transformation of his character. He goes from Max Dillon to Electro in an instant. He has some powers, uses them, and gets defeated. He escapes and suddenly has the ability to disappear and reappear because Harry used a taser on him, and now he can suddenly turn into pure electricity. It never felt like a real progression.

I agree. It's about execution, not how much carnage they caused. After all Arnie's Mr. Freeze in Batman and Robin put all of Gotham City on ice, but he was as threatening and menacing as Barney the Dinosaur.

If they made a movie about a smurf who destroys the universe then it wouldn't be any more intimidating. "Today's my birthday... now it's time for me to light my candles!"

Seriously though, what was the point of the whole birthday thing?

:funny: Yeah. Mr. Freeze and Electro can be every bit as menacing as fans want/wanted, but the execution (which made them uber campy) killed them on screen.

I don't think I disliked the villain's design choices so much to complain about them.

Just a couple of wishes are :

1. Harry needed to mutate more into a goblin-esque creature. (not all the way though)
2. Rhino's mech needed to be a bit more stylized into a Rhino. (again, not all the way though.)

But I think the Lizard is the design I liked the least. Like the rest of my wishes, I wish he were more dinosaur-esque.

Totally agreed. I think Harry-Goblin would've looked a lot cooler if his skin was fully green, not just greeny blotches and veins

Is there a count for all the goblins?

Not sure about fully green, because the suit is green too. I actually don't mind that his skin color remained the same, but I wish he mutated more into a Goblin-type. A slight addition of more green wouldn't hurt though, yeah.

It's weird. There are photos out there, some HQ close-ups of Dane in GG make up and it actually looks fricking cool to the point where it does look kinda Goblin-y. But the fact that a lot of his shots in the movie aren't that close to his face, you don't see the detail in the makeup so it just results to Dane sorta still looking like Dane.

He really is out of focus in a lot of the shots in the film. You can't really see any of the detailing. And I'm sure there were scenes prior to the power plant that showcased his design better that were cut from the film.

Yeah like the scene with him killing Menken. I actually like his performance there. Although, it is a visual decision. And I don't exactly know how these things work going into pre-pro, but maybe the film makers should've done test shots of the overall design to see how it would look at different angles - far, close, etc, to see how it would really look and work. But I guess they were happy with the design.

Franco's look was so uninspired and lame-looking. At least Dafoe and DeHaan resembled actual goblins. And before anyone says that TASM2's Green Goblin was an eyesore, I'd rather have that than something completely perfunctory and unimaginative.

DeHaan looked like a haggard drug addict with skin rash and a hairstyle that must have come from sticking his finger in a wall socket. That resembles no Goblin. Franco's costume was uninspired, but it wasn't an eyesore like DeHaan's.

Like I said, I'd rather have a gross eyesore than a boring look.

You'd rather have something that's awful to look at than boring. Well there's a first. Would you rather eat something disgusting than something bland, too?

I'd rather have a deformed, mutated creep than a basic black armored suit and facemask for a goblin. The deformed, mutated creep Dehaan goblin at least resembles a goblin in some form.

The haggard drug addict with puffy hair and skin rash resembles a Goblin to you. No green skin, no pointy nose, no long ears, no yellow eyes. What sort of Goblins are you used to looking at?

Damn right. Really bad is always better to me than middle of the road. Middle of the road is boring.

Well what about Franco's goblin resembles a goblin to you? And I would've rather had a green skinned goblin myself. There are definitely changes I would've made to Dehaan's Goblin myself, a great deal, but at least it somewhat channeled a goblin for me

I never said he resembled a Goblin. I said his costume was uninspired, but it wasn't an assault on the eyes like the latest Goblin. I didn't want to roll my eyes and wish him off the screen because he looked so bad.

Bland conquers ugly every time.

The only clue in that New Goblin was another version of the Goblin was his equipment and weapons (glider, pumpkin bombs, razor bats, etc.), plus the knowledge that it was another Osborn. Nothing about the look resembled the namesake.

Oh ok. Cool. :yay: But I personally disagree, I like ugly. It sure beats bland in my book, at least for a goblin.

Harry should have had an updated version of his father's costume. But I think they just wanted to keep him as "Harry" instead of making him a Goblin.

Sorry but I'm not buying these preferences for bad designs over bland ones. Next you'll be saying you'd rather eat a bowl of puke over a bowl of gruel because gruel is too bland.

True. That kind of rubs me the wrong way though, being an avid fanboy of the Harry-goblin arc from the comics. He went full goblin, and he was insane. Walter White level psychotic!

I think they were trying too hard to stem away from the SM1 Goblin. It felt like they were really playing it safe by making him just "Harry Osborn getting revenge."
