I want to start reading X-Men but I dont know which one to get, aren't there like 10 diff versions?

And what was Generation M about and is it any good? Same for Son of M.

Dude buy Astonishing X-men and don't bother with the rest of that spill.

I heard something about Colosus pounding Kitty through the floor, did this happen in Astonishing?

I'll provide the other opinion (sorry to disagree with you so much lately, Deemar.)

Astonishing is a good book, but overrated in my opinion. Joss Whedon is...satisfactory, but not exemplar.

Uncanny X-Men and just "X-Men" are the other two titles, and these lately have been barely okay. However, they are going in new directions VERY soon with new writers, and my hopes are high for them, so you might want to keep your eyes open for the new writing teams.

Yes, that happened in Astonishing. It was entertaining, although a little slapstick.

It's cool man.

I'm just at X-men overload.

I'm looking for mostly the main team. Cyclops, Wolverine, Beast, Colossus, etc.

And whats the diff b/t the three titles?

I gotta say the thing about Astonishing X-men I like is that it's back to basics and easy to follow (for the most part) solid characterzation and kinda has this 'no-frill' approach to story telling.

It's been awhile since I've read an X-men comic and felt satisfied and not bogged down by 'Nightcrawlers father being a Satannic Demon/mutant' or 'Xorneto' or any of the crap.

Yeah Josh Whedon isn't re-inventing the wheel or nothing, but at least he's telling solid stories with heart. Bonus!! he's not afraid of shh...'CONTINUITY' a no-no at Marvel these days.

It's good solid comics with 'slap ya momma good art!'

Go for Astonishing X-men man you want be dissappointed.

It has the roster you want.

Cyclops
Wolverine
Collossus
Kitty
Emma Frost
Beast

I heard that Astonishing isn't in continuity, is that true?

I don't know to much on the X-men's history, which would be the easiest for me?

whats the roster of X-Men and Uncanny X-Men?

It's in continuity, but it's easy to jump on and not be dead in the water.

- In regards to Astonishing X-Men, Quesada said that the Whedon/John Cassaday series will continue to "walk between the raindrops" of what's going on the larger Marvel Universe. The series is in continuity, Quesada reiterated, but, as he sees it, it stands on its own, virtually its own little X-Men movie.

It's in continuity, it just doesn't really intersect with the other comics too often. It's relatively self-contained within the Marvel universe, but within the Marvel universe nonetheless.

Uncanny:
Warpath
Polaris
Nightcrawler
Havok
Marvel Girl
Professor X

It's basically gonna be X-men in space.

X-Men:
Cannonball
Sabretooth
Cable
Mystique
Iceman
Rogue

It's basically X-men with Sabretooth on the team cause the writer doesn't get to use Wolverine.

Haha, Sabretooth's joining? Why the hell wouldn't the writer get to use Wolverine? Everyone else does.

It's in continuity, Joey Q is saying basically since Joss Whedon doesn't want to deal with all the crossover/events like 'Civil War' that Astonishing is not tackling all the extra crap that is forced upon most titles.

Just think of it being a month behind continuity-wise with the rest of the Marvel U.

Makes sense?

so is the civil war affecting Astonishing?

Proffesor x isnt in astonishing?!?!?

damn, i wanted to read about these to:
Nightcrawler
Marvel Girl
Professor X
Iceman
Rogue

I hate all these mulitple titles, especially spider-man :(

Heh, believe it or not that tub o'lard Joey Q is down playing Wolverine's role in most X-books cause he's already an Avenger and X-men.

Come-on man, it's how they squeaze more money out of the readership. Why just have one X-book with a main team of the most popular X-men while occasionaly rotating in oldtime favorites?

Naw!! juice'em for more money!

damn, i guess i'll get astonishing then. how far along is it?
