Whiteout

Does anyone know if I can buy that poster on a website?
Or was it a Comic-Con exclusive?

There is a sequel Whiteout:Melt. Oni has a new edition that'll be on the shelves in a month or so.

It'll have a new cover. I don't have an image of the final design, but here's the illustration:

The first book has a new cover, too. (Not the best timing, I realize, what with the teaser poster mimicking the original Miller cover, but that's life.)

And Greg and I will be doing a third and final book in the series later this year.

Will this new edition all be in colour or just the cover ?

Just the cover. The book was conceived as black and white from the start. There's no way I could get across the harshness of Antarctica- the cold and the wind of the world's worst climate- if I had to do it in color.

I'm looking forward to seeing how the director and production team try and bring that "feel" to the big screen.

woah...wtf is this movie about!!?!?:wow:

In Whiteout, Kate Beckinsale stars as Carrie Stetko, the lone U.S. Marshal assigned to Antarctica, whose investigation of the continent's first murder draws her into a shocking mystery. Now, with only three days until winter, Carrie must solve the crime before Antarctica is plunged into darkness and she is stranded with the killer.

All three books are about Carrie Stetko- Kate's character.

Whiteout:Melt is about Stetko tracking down an ex-Soviet special forces team. They're crossing the ice with a stolen nuke. You can read the first 11 pages here:

Thanks, I read the first and liked it can't wait to see it on film , will get the second one now.

What do you think of the poster like it? Its cool, I might have to get one when they go on sale.

I think it's cool! No idea if they'll make them available for sale, though. I had a huge stack to give away at Comic-con and ran through them all. I didn't even remember to keep one for myself!

Cool, i was thinking when looking at the cover that it wouldn't work as well as the B/W art inside the versions i have.

Any idea when we'll see the teaser trailer ?

It's color. The palate choices for the various scenes and settings were all really good.

Exclusive: Whiteout Reader's Script Review

Kate Beckinsale is set to star in action thriller, Whiteout, which is directed by Dominic Sena.

Based on Greg Rucka's comic book miniseries, the film revolves around a lone U.S. marshal (Beckinsale) assigned to Antarctica who is investigating the continent's first murder. The Hollywood Reporter adds with only three days until winter, the marshal must solve the crime before Antarctica is plunged into darkness and she is stranded with the killer.

Here is what my sidekick Jack Flack had to say about the script.

Jack Flack is back on the Comic-Con attack with the latest comic book to movie script ready to hit theaters. This time around? Greg Rucka’s Whiteout.

First published by Oni Press back in 1998 the 4 issue series followed Marshall Carrie Stetko operating out of McMurdo Station in Antarctica and her investigation into a murder. The book landed Eisner Award nominations for writer Greg Rucka, artist Steve Lieber, as well as awards for best limited series and best graphic novel. Guess it kicked a bit off ass, eh?

Now the current script is written by Jon Hoeber and Erich Hoeber with revisions by David Griffiths and Peter Griffiths with current revisions by Chad Hayes and Carey Hayes. Got all that because I think that might have even confused the Mormon church. Script is 105 pages long dated December 22, 2006.

Flick starts off with a dead body in the vast wilderness of Antarctica and then quickly moves to Carrie Stetko – the late 20’s good looking U.S. Marshall who is hanging out in her office pretending she’s on the beach by having lamps bringing heat down to her, her feet stuffed into kitty litter, and a fake palm tree for maximum effect.

We see that she has a great sense of humor but as the lone Marshall in this vast wilderness at the bottom of the world she is also serious about her job. When a pilot spots a body frozen in the ice Carrie goes forth to find out what she can.

We learn that time is off the essence because Winter-over is about to happen – a phenomena which causes the sky to go black and stay that way for six months time. 90% of the inhabitants leave and once Winter-over occurs, no planes can get into Antarctica. Nothing better than to try to solve a complete mystery in the dark and completely alone.

When Carrie gets to the body she finds that it’s pretty mangled and bent in all sorts of different angles that a human body shouldn’t bend at. Obviously the guy was murdered and not just walking around in the middle of the Antarctic so Carrie now finds herself in a race against time to solve the homicide before everything white-outs.

Some of the other players we meet are Sam Murphy – the base commander whose picture currently inhabits Carrie’s dart board, Doc Fury – in his sixties and an Antarctic veteran. He’s “seasoned and bearded.” There’s also Byron Delfy – the baby-faced African American pilot who ends up having to fly Carrie around.

So Carrie is on to solve the mystery and the biggest actor in this film is the elements itself. Scene pieces literally fly off the page like when Carrie has to go between two buildings during the Winter-out ,using only a line to get between the buildings while winds and snow nearly send her to her death. As more and more dead bodies begin to pile up not only is Carrie over her head being the only Marshall in a place where there is no police and she is the only law, but one false move in the elements can kill her just as quick as the killer on the loose.

The script doesn’t dumb down for the audience. There is some decent explanation of life in the Antarctic without ever making the audience feel like they are getting a lesson or facing plot details on them. The characters are likable from the start especially Marshall Stetko who you know is rough and tough heroine who is going to get the job done.

This will sell movie tickets a-plenty and will make Rucka a lot of money in graphic novel sales and all for good reason. This script is TIGHT with lots of great dialogue, suspense, mystery, and action rolled into one. Better yet it’s an environment you don’t see much outside of a John Carpenter movie.

As well versed in comic book as I am I’ll admit that I’ve never read Whiteout. After reading the screenplay I can tell that it is my loss. Whiteout is a taut thriller full of energy and one of the best heroines to hit the silver screen in a long time. Kate Beckinsale is no stranger to decent hits with the Underworld flicks under her belt and roles in Serendipity and Pearl Harbor, but done right this might be the blockbuster to throw her into super star status.

There you have it folks.

So there you have it folks.

UNTIL THE NEXT EPISODE…

…YO SOY EL MAYIMBE!

I thought that poster was fan made? I saw it ages ago before the comic con one, and I thought I read it was fan made?
