Yeah, I wouldn't put Peter up there with Reed or Tony either. He's just shy of them.

There are some really fundamental differences of opinion here. Corp places Reed and Tony above Peter while I place Reed and Peter above Tony. I strongly suspect that we will never reach a consensus on this. I almost forgot, from his times with Strange and Spindrifter, Peter knows a little about magic too.

It depends on what you value really. But at least Reed is consensus.

For me, if Reed dies - Tony seems to fill the shoes as head genius a lot better than Pete. Not to say that Pete doesn't use his smarts, it just hasn't been tested yet.

What I liked about the New Avengers is that Peter is starting to get exposed to all the stuff Tony experiences - particularly that time in the SHIELD Helicarrier - having to be the think-tank of the group.

Tony believes Pete can do it, and is probably worth a lot more in potential as Tony is investing on him more heavily than any other superhero he's ever had. We'll see.

Tony has had his fair experience with magic, especially how he always has to show his disdain for it whenever he has to deal with it.

Pete tends to show a lot of shock and awe whenever Tony shows him something, such as when he found out his wife's arm was broken, and then wasn't, and how Tony explained that.

However, the comparison of magic is something that ALL superhero's eventually have to endure in large quantities from time to time. Especially since Strange was one of Stark's buddies in the Illuminatti.

Besides, its not like building Iron Man armor is one field. Tony Stark in addition to being able to being an engineer also has to be a brilliant computer programmer (he's created AI before), pure mathmatics (he once blocked a blow from the Mandarin by algebra), electronics, physics (abet not theoretically physics), rocketry (the Iron Man armor is space capable), and presumably also being a genius at economics/business/political science.

Hell, the man helped create SHIELD.

Some of his field does incorporate t. physics. His armor wouldn't work unless some theories worked.
