Who Framed Roger Rabbit = Pure Genius

Damn excellent film.

A definite must-buy, and I'm also looking for the book that inspired it, "Who Censored Roger Rabbit?"

There were supposed to have been more cartoon characters in the movie. The only one I can remember off-hand is Popeye. But his owners wouldn't sign off on it. That's too bad. A couple more cartoon characters would've only made the movie cooler.

If it makes you feel any better, no woman is woman enough to fill her heels.

Very true. On the one of the documentaries on the DVD, one of the creators says a character like that would only be possible animated. With that waist and that chest...if there were such a woman, she wouldn't be able to walk upright. :cwink:

What does that mean?

Such a great movie, but poor Betty Boop, reduced to a waitress. :(

The first disc (family friendly) is has more kid stuff--the cartoons they made for it, more kiddy behind the scenes looks, that kind of stuff. The second disc has more behind the scenes stuff, including the commentary.

Also, the family friendly one has the movie in fullscreen, while the enthusiast one is in widescreen.

Anyone else agree? Ofcourse you do. it's one of the most fun movies ever made. Well acted, beautifully animated and clever aswell.

Give it up for this piece of film-history.

Valiant: That lame-brain freeway idea could only be cooked up by a toon.
Doom: Not just aaaany toon.

What a great movie. Might actually dig out the DVD, and watch it here in a minute.

Hillarious bit of trivia:

Bob Hoskins said that, for two weeks after seeing the movie, his young son wouldn't talk to him. When finally asked why, his son said he couldn't believe his father would work with cartoon characters such as Bugs Bunny and not let him meet them.

:woot:

LOL. That's funny.

You guys won't believe this, but I've yet to watch "Who Framed Roger Rabbit".

It came out during a hectic time in my life and I didn't have much time for leisure pursuits.

I'll have to rent the DVD and give it a chew. Sounds great from what you guys are saying.

I knew Judge doom was the bad guy form the beginning:up:

Lol. Indeed. When you see his face you know it.

shave and a haircut...

another bit of trivia:

Bob Hoskins watched his young daughter to learn how to act with imaginary characters. He later had problems with hallucinations.

and this

In one of the early versions of the script, Judge Doom was revealed to be the one who killed Bambi's mother.

:D

God damn what a film! Although I still find the scene where the shoe (who I didn't realise is done by Nancy Cartwright) gets dipped and ultimately meets it's demise saddening:csad: . Does anyone know the name of that weirdo that Valiant mistakes for Jessica Rabbit?

I think it's Lena Hyena.

her name is Nina Hyena but is listed in the credits as 'Toon Hag'

"Yoo hoo loverboy, its Nina Hyena."

Roger Rabbit is a rare movie because it seems what it did can never be re-captured again.

The movies that tried to do it failed miserably.

You will also never see all those animated characters on the same screen ever again either.

To me there is no greater moment in cinematic history than Daffy Duck finally going at it and meeting Donald Duck in a duel.

The problem with saying that, though, is that the only movies that tried to do that are the newer Looney Toons movies--and you know you have some problems when the best one of it has the main character being MICHAEL JORDAN. :o

Haven't seen the film yet, but this thread is really tempting me to go get the DVD. Rent or buy, fellas?
