From the description of the thing and the early reviews, it sounds like it's gonna be really intense. I have a funny feeling i'm gonna be in my theatre seat holding my family jewels during the scene!

Torture fans will probably like it . . . or it won't be graphic enough for them.

what kind of torture!?!? O_O

Bond is taken by the villians, tied to a chair, naked, and they essentially bash his balls with a bamboo stick.

At least we're not talking about car batteries.

I'm very interested to see and hear the reaction of the audience during this scene. I know I'm more than likely going to squirm, wince, groan, and possibly close my eyes during the torture scene.

Apparently they managed to film it within the range of a PG-13.

The Passion had an R-rating, so I don't think we'll be seeing any kind of brutal violence within that range.

In the book it's a carpet beater.

What is so horrible about this torture is that it's essentially a slow castration.

You serious??? :wow:

Dude that would fckin be the worst 'punishment' ever!!!! "What is so horrible?" Dude, it's... it's.... wow.

I can see this scene being the most painful scene to watch for the guys in the audience, but don't know if the women in the audience (are there that many?) could see how that would be... agh, painful as hell!!!

Careful, that's what got Pee-Wee Herman arrested.

The women would be thinking, "Giving birth is worse."

My friend is going to see the movie with me and he hasn't read the novel or any spoilers. So I look forward to his squirmish reaction and behavior upon this scene. :o

The women in the audience would probably be cheering the torture on. :o

Feminist women that is.

Think about it, the dude is ****ing castrating James Bond and beating his penis about with a carpet beater until it's numb, shriveled, up and bleeding on the floor.

Feminists got to take some sort of unconscious or sadistic pleasure in that. It's James freaking Bond, in many ways a cinematic misogynist and sexist icon for men.

Pretty much. Moreso psychologically, Bond has to deal with the thought that his manhood is being stripped away and after it's over he will no longer be a man. And it does destroy him both physically and mentally. Maybe one moreso than the other.

Well, at the end of the day he still gets laid.

It also explains why despite his promisquious behavior, he's never shown to have had kids--the beating to his balls was so great that all his little swimmers died in the attack.

Not really. He asked Q to repair the damage. That's the story you never hear.

According to doctors there was no permanent damage and Bond was able to make a full and healthy recovery.

In later Bond books (not written by Fleming) I think Bond did actually have a kid out of wedlock he didn't know about.

Or the reason why he doesn't have kids is because he pulls out...

Interesting that for US audiences, they left the torture scene unedditted but editted the bathroom and stairwell scenes.

Whilst in the UK, they edited 1 shot out of the torture scene and left everything else.
