Regwec's reasons, as selfish as they might seem, for the 2 of them being together still adhere to the title of the thread "Batman's True Love and theirs was a relationship that in canon got explored a little. I think it's valid, even though the reasons he gave for them rubs you the wrong way.
Thank you. For some reason it was impossible for Zeu's frontal lobes to register those words when they came from my keyboard.
Zeu, I did not intend to patronise or offend you, but I do find it surprising that you became so agitated and emotional about such an extremely trivial issue. The thread is focused upon Batman, so I wrote a hypothesis based on Batman's view. To equate that with a belief that a woman's choice in her relationships is immaterial is irrational and strange.
I think the key matter here is that you have a very strong attachment to the character of Wonder Woman. All of us here probably have favorite comicbook characters- my avatar is testament to that. But there is really no need to become so defensive, especially when my initial post was in no way an attack on the character.
In any case, and for your benefit, let's think about it from the female perspective.
-You had said that Wonder Woman was a freedom fighter, and that Batman was a fascist. I think that that is a simplification, based on very "gritty" portrayals of Batman, and very noveau silver age portrayals of Wonder woman. In recent events, we must remember that Wonder Woman effectively despaired of mercy and justice, and took to summary excecutions. Batman did not, and did his best to dissuade her from that course. I think you will agree that that was merely a phase in her character arc, but it does show Batman's comparative commitment to a belief in mercy and rehabilitation.
-Batman is physically weaker than her. You see that as an inhibiting factor, but I don't. A major factor in the downfall of most of Bruce's relationships has been a lack of trust, born of a intense fear of danger befalling his lover. With Wonder Woman, Bruce would not have any cause to adopt this behaviour. She can overcome greater threats than him. She knows Batman inside out, as well as Bruce, so there is nothing to be hidden.
-It is arguable that Diana is wiser/with more integrity than Bruce. Again, I think that the application of that premise would be that Bruce was able to respect and admire her a great deal, as well loving her. He has never really been able to do that with any mortal woman, because he is arguably the xenith of humanity. Diana is better than him, and she would be happier for that.
-It shouldn't be forgotten that human affection is almost impossible to fully understand, or predict. Countesses marry postmen, and cabinet ministers marry their secretaries. I think that Diana is an egalitarian by nature, and is unlikely to look down on somebody for their genetic inferiority. In fact, she may find greater warmth in an inbalanced relationship, rather than choosing a mate based on status or power alone. Bruce is a loyal, highly intelligent, cultured individual. He is also tortured and mysterious, but many women find that attractive. She might actually like him.
-Bruce is very good looking with a fine set of pecs and huge amounts of money. She's bound to want to ride his face.
