Who is in there wrong here?

Agreed, he needed to buy two seats if he's too fat for one. If that hurts his feelings, tough rocks...loose the pounds, mister.

The same should apply at sporting events. At a Braves game once, I saw this massive fat guy trying to wedge into a seat a few rows ahead of me. He got it, but barely. His "waist" was spilling into the seats on either side of him.

I like how the guy is "humiliated" and embarrassed because the lawyer kept pointing out that the guy weighs 330 LBS.

i feel bad for the gut i really do,the lawyer could have been a little nicer though

^Was that Freudian or intentional?

I have to say, I'm with the airline. They only have seats in one size, and it said in the guidelines that he was supposed to book two seats.

Exactly his point, there are many people of different sizes, so they should have different sized seats, imagine a 7 foot guy trying to sit on an airplane, no leg room at all.

That said, hit the gym, airline is right.

My stepfather is 6'7. He sits by the doors, where there is extra legroom, or takes an isle seat. Imagine this guy in an isle seat!

But why should your dad "have" to sit only there?

I'm so sick of this BS, try sitting in a full plane next to fatty when he/she wedges themselves in one seat. Not only are they rubbing up against you the whole flight, but they are constantly moving because they are uncomfortable. On top of that the lap belt doesn’t fit them. I wish these people would understand that it’s not discrimination, it’s a safety issue. Not only because of the lap belt, but I’m assuming there is a weight tolerance for the plane.

Safety issue my ass.

Because you can't ever cater for everyone, and when there are perfectly good seats available he doesn't see why he sould make a fuss. This guy on the other hand...

So what, airliners are supposed to have a fat section? I'm not paying extra fees to fly just because Joe Fatass refuses to get healthy.

Not only that- what if you put all the really really fat people on one side of the plane, and all the regular sized people on the other?

Umm no, but dont try to call it a "safety issue". Its more of a youre to fat to fit in a seat issue.

But hes paying for a service, why should he not be able to get a window seat? Not being able to cater to everyone sounds like "size discrimination" to me.

I didn't say it was a safety issue... though Kaz's point makes me chuckle. I just don't feel the need for society to cater to obese people. It's a problem, but it's not going to get solved by forcing the world to adapt to them. It's the obese people that need to change.

Ever heard of the phrase 'you can't please everyone?' its true. I've never liked window seats anyway. Isles have the best legroom and you don't have to squeeze people to go to the bathroom. Besides, he could take a window seat. It isn't that comfortable.

Poppycock, everyone knows the asile is the worst seat possible.

Its exactly the reason they make them buy two seats, it certainly isn't for the comfort of the other travelers. If they were concerned with that they would give you more leg room and such.

An example would be, Why do you think when a NFL team charters planes, they always charter one more than they need? And its not incase one breaks down.

Maybe, but that doesn't mean he should have to pay double to get on an airplane, he is sitll one person, one rather large person, but still one person.

I never got that. I always travel in the isle seat. I've only had a window once and I hated it because I'm a serial fidget and I like to be able to move.

LOL! I laugh, its not a safety issue, at all. Its a too fat to fit in your seat issue. Simple as that. People try to throw out the safety issue thing to make it seem better, but its not at all.

The aisle seat is the one people walk by and when you try to take a nap youre constantly getting hit, the stewardess hits you with the drink cart etc.

I can take that if it means I can stick my legs out into the isle or get up whenever I feel like it.
