as usual, i have to go with keaton. maaybe part of it is for nostalgic reasons, but i think im the kind of person who if something newer blows me away i will like that version better. but with batman, even after 5 films with 4 different bat actors, i STILL prefer keaton. he was just so badass and he looked like clint eastwood and had a real presence as batman. i also liked the look of his bat-vehciles as well. clooney was too campy, kilmer was too boring, and bale, while he certainly was good in the role, just didnt catch my interest as much as keaton did. i blame that cowl he wore (that tight mouthpiece), and that voice...

I had to go with Keaton and it had everything to do with his portrayal as Bruce Wayne. I always felt that Bruce Wayne has to be a little crazy to do what he does. Keaton's BW came off to me as a little not there...like I could believe that seeing his parents gunned down in front of him is what made him decide to become Batman and that it has affected him up until the events of B89 and even Batman Returns

Keaton's the guy that got me into batman, i remember being really obsessed with his two films i couldn't stop watching them when i was a kid, my parents bought me the video's because they got annoyed having to rent them every week lol. But i must admit Bale defenitly made the story alot more entertaining, im hoping Joker is done right for the sequel, jack Nicholson was great.

Maybe it has something to do with his dedication as an actor, how invested he gets into roles physically and mentally, but his performance encapsulates the passion and drive of Batman, for me. His Bruce really seems like someone who could do the things that Batman does. I bought it from minute one. He's not psychotic, he's just really set on getting his job done.

I grew up with Keaton, and I am of the B89 generation. But Bale just fully represents what we come to know as the Bruce Wayne / Batman character.

Christian Bale....he embodies the character on film. Yet, when I read the comics I hear Kevin Conroy's voice in my head as Batman...but I also hear Loren Lester as Dick Grayson, Mark Hamil as the Joker, Clancy Brown as Lex Luthor, so on and so forth.

Bale to me makes a great Batman, except that when I watch him, I am never convinced he is anything that surpasses what Keaton did. When I watch BB and see Bale as Batman, I am never fooled, and am always disillusioned that he is just an actor playing a billionaire in a Batsuit.

Interesting. When I read the comics, I hear various animated Batman voices (based on the era), never do I have a live action actor cross over into the realm of the books, mentally, unless it's one of the film adaptations.

So true. It's not a knock to Bale's acting skills... he's every bit as talented as Keaton. But I don't think the way BB was written lends itself to sucking you in, you keep getting drawn out of being completely immersed because every other second, something is being proven to you. I don't need to know how everything works.... just show me and let me suspend my disbelief, thank you.

Burton's films, I get totally engrossed and lose myself in the film. I AM there. With BB, I feel like--and know--I'm watching a film. I place all blame on Goyer's accurate-yet-flawed and unengrossing writing for BB's problems.
