1. John McClane
2. Indiana Jones
3. James Bond

The rest I really don't care enough about to even try and rate them.

James Bond. I love all the different takes on the character over the decades; that keeps things interesting. Bond also gets some points for the sheer number of good movies he's been in.

1. JOHN SHAFT : The black private dick who's a sex machine to all the chicks !!

2. PETER VENKMAN : Always the sarcastic smart-a$$, no matter how powerful or gruesome the paranormal threat was,Pete was always cool as a cucumber, either trying to get laid or get paid, while saving the world.

3. INDIANA JONES : The greatest adventurer of all time.

4. MAD MAX : Post-Apocalyptic bad a$$

thats list is missing captain kirk and spock
but if going by the list its gotta be james bond.

I could always relate to Luke Skywalker. The orphan, albeit, who looked to the sun and asked if there was anything for him in the great beyond.

I'd say I seriously related to James Bond in SKYFALL though which was cool. Since they fully went with the whole orphan root.

I voted for Indiana Jones, but here others I among my favorites:

1. James Bond
2. Han Solo
3. Luke Skywalker
4. Martin Riggs
5. John Mclane
6. John Rambo
7. Terminator (after T1 of course)

Also, I would've voted for Vader, BUT I don't approve of a whiny brat inside an armored suit. Do like him in ANH-ROJ, though. :o

^This guy.

Also - (In no order).
John McClane (Pre-DH5)
Marty McFly
Rocky
Han Solo
James Bond (Sean Connery)
T-700

Han Solo

It would have been Dr. Jones except Crystal Skull happened.

Ooops, forgot to say why.

Indiana Jones - He's an intellectual who does field work, he's in over his head, he's formidable, fights dirty, and has a general curiosity yet retains skepticism.
@Obi-Ron - I hate 'Temple of Doom' but one film that I don't like in the series doesn't make me not like the character or keep him as my favorite. That's silly.

John McClane - Same as Indy as in he's in over his head, a reluctant hero, no-B.S. type of guy, vulnerable and has problems. Also fights dirty.

Zatoichi (Bond still has 3 movies to catch...the 26 motion pictures Shintaro Katsu did

)

Edmond Dantés comes 2nd.

One favorites not listed: Zorro
His first movie pretty much helped define the heroic action adventure movie genre still felt today from Jackie Chan to Indiana Jones to James Bond...[YT]yaBud6ii5Wk[/YT]He influenced the classic pulps, and being one of the first popular masked costumed dual identity heroes inevitably influenced the comicbooks.

The Fox

(And just in case; no the Pimpernel did not wear a costume or mask, neither did the Count of Monte Cristo or the likes of Robin Hood etc. , and no I did not say he was the ONLY influence, there is an endless list, he was one. )

I'd also ad the Shadow and the Phantom to my "favorite non-comic book movie franchise characters" if they actually had more of a movie "franchise" going.

None of the above. Mine's Obi-Wan Kenobi. I just love his whole arc in the saga.

Others that get a mention:
- Han Solo (my #2 SW character after Kenobi)
- Indiana Jones
- James Bond
- Ellen Ripley
- Vito Corleone
- Rocky
- John McClane

1. Indiana Jones
2. Gollum
3. Han Solo
4. John McClane
5. Luke Skywalker
6. Michael Corleone
7. Vito Corleone
8. Dirty Harry
9. The Man With No Name
10. Marty McFly

Harry Potter- I grew up with the films and books.

Indiana Jones - My favorite film character of all time.

Han Solo - second favorite.

James Bond - It's not just Sean Connery and Daniel Craig that make him one of my favorite characters, it's the entire longevity of Bond and what each actor has contributed to the lore that has made him this powerful of a figure. The fact we have 23 movies and the last one being the most successful says something. He's here to stay.

Ian Malcolm - the person who I would most likely be in a situation like Jurassic Park. Plus, he was the first smart ass I saw on film as a five year old, so of course I was quite drawn to his character.

Prereboot James Bond especilly Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan as Bond.

Runnerup Indiana Jones.

Very tough, but my top choices would go:

Indiana Jones
Han Solo
Rambo

In no particular order
  • Ash Williams
  • Frank Martin
  • Freddy Krueger: Funniest slasher guy
  • Martin Riggs
  • Marty McFly
  • Robocop
  • Rocky Balboa
  • Sherlock Holmes
  • Kyle Reese
