Who should be next on the Big Screen?

How about The Martian Manhunter. The first movie set on Mars with the invasion there etc & then the Sequel on Earth

It would be cool if it was done in CGI so that everyone could see MM in his true form instead of an human actor in green makeup.

WW is the obvious choice.

Secret Six would be great, along with BOP, or Teen Titans/Young Justice would be welcomed if they could do it right.

I am not so sure about Wonder Woman. Superheroines don't sell as well as their male Superhero counterparts. Plus, who really cares about Wonder Woman except feminists whenever they want to express outrage when DC does something with her.

Especially since anything moving at high speeds would be almost invisible.

Yeh, I've seen how bad it looks in Smallville when Clark runs fast. Thats really the main point they have to get right for it not to be laughed at. Well, the costume might be laughed at...

It depends on the SuperHeroine and I think WW has both DC and Marvel beat as most recognizable and largest female hero fan base. She could easily draw boys and girls of all ages.

Even though I absolutely loved it (only because of the cornynist) you can't have a John Wesley Shipp version of Flash on the big screen. I say let them take the time needed to make it believable.

Plus just because WW is female doesnt mean she shouldnt get a movie when she deserves one. People would say the same thing about Superman or Batman if they never had a movie. And not as if all female movies dont do well since there are over a handfull that do and if it is a good movie, it will probably do well. A lot of female hero movies arent written well and thus flop.

I assure you...this will be no Catwoman.

seriously? the ignorance of this statement is amazing.

I don't see it happening. Where is this Wonder Woman fanbase?

Why does Wonder Woman "deserve a film"?

seriously? the ignorance of this statement is amazing.

Ask anyone of the general public the following questions about Wonder Woman:
  • What is her secret identity?
  • Who is her archenemy?
  • What are her powers?
  • What is her origin?
  • Where does she live?
As a control, ask them the same questions about Batman and/or Superman. Tell me their scores for each.

Really, the last time I can remember Wonder Woman making waves in pop culture was when ignorant feminists were pissed off by her new costume for whatever reason.

Don't get me wrong, a good movie may change things, but, currently, Wonder Woman is dead last in DC's Trinity by a longshot in terms of iconic stature.

Plus, have you heard of nearly as many writers who dream of writing Wonder Woman as you have for Batman or Superman?

wonder woman is a very iconic and well known superhero who has endured the test of time. and no matter the size of her fan base, she's a great character with a great story who could produce a great film. any current fan base that she holds would only be stronger after a quality film is made.

Why does Wonder Woman "deserve a film"?

the answer to that is obvious. can you tell us why she WULDN'T deserve a film? i'd like to see a competent answer to that without you ignorantly ignoring her decades long history as an enduring and heroic icon.

batman and superman has nothing to do with any of this. nor does the general public's knowledge in regards the details of WW. my issue with your ignorant statement is that only angry feminists care about wonder woman.

Really, the last time I can remember Wonder Woman making waves in pop culture was when ignorant feminists were pissed off by her new costume for whatever reason.

fans were pissed about the new costume. not "ignorant feminists".

in regards to DC's trinity, wonder woman has always been the least iconic. this is nothing new. but everyone recognizes wonder woman and knows her name. far less recognizable characters have got films.

Plus, have you heard of nearly as many writers who dream of writing Wonder Woman as you have for Batman or Superman?
again, batman and superman have nothing to do with this.

Name some great Wonder Woman stories. Wonder Woman may be able to produce a great film, but she would need some serious reworking/additions to her character for her to be a compelling character to the general audience.

as stated above: she's an iconic hero with a great story.

What great story?

obviously batman and superman are way more popular. but that has nothing to do with anything here, nor does it matter on any level. my issue with your ignorant statement is that only angry feminists care about wonder woman.

Yes it does. Batman and Superman are very popular because they are very compelling to a general audience. I have yet to see any evidence that would apply to Wonder Woman as well.

fans were pissed about the new costume. not "ignorant feminists".

Well, I meant in addition to fans. By "ignorant feminists", I meant all the feminists who thought that the new costume made Wonder Woman look more like a pornstar than the original design. One such article even referred to Batman as her long-time love interest.

They recognize her, but they don't know her name.

Batman and Superman are controls, such as in an experiment, an example to be compared against.

george perez's run, greg rucka's run, william moulton marstons stories.

a characters popularity is no reflection of the characters ability to be written as compelling. and the fact that wonder woman has endured as a recognizable and trailblazing hero of iconic stature is plenty enough evidence.

first, there is no need to precedent "feminist" with "ignorant". second, there is no need to single out feminists, when it was fans as a whole that took issue with the costume (and legitimately so).

They recognize her, but they don't know her name.

people recognize wonder woman but dont know her name is wonder woman?

Batman and Superman are controls, such as in an experiment, an example to be compared against.

there is no need for such an experiment. there is no relevant reason to compare wonder woman's popularity to batman and superman's popularity.

OK.

They are not as independent as you think. Generally, popularity comes people liking the character because they are compelling.

I am talking about outside the fandom. Second, the feminists I were talking about were ignorant, hence the preface. I'm not saying there aren't legitimate reasons to dislike the new costume, but I don't think saying that she looks like a pornstar now (especially considering what she was wearing before) is one of them, or at least, not one that makes much sense.

people recognize wonder woman but dont know her name is wonder woman?

What I meant is that they don't even know Wonder Woman is Diana Prince.

there is no need for such an experiment. there is no relevant reason to compare wonder woman's popularity to batman and superman's popularity.

The reason I bring them up is to put Wonder Woman's popularity into context, because popularity and box office potential are big factors in whether or not a character gets a movie. The movies would be compared anyway.

you should read them.

They are not as independent as you think. Generally, popularity comes people liking the character because they are compelling.

they're not entirely independent, no. but regardless of all that, i dont think wonder woman as a pop icon really needs to be debated. everyone recognizes her.

i still dont understand why you're singling out feminists here.

What I meant is that they don't even know Wonder Woman is Diana Prince.

so? they know and recognize wonder woman as a hero, thats plenty enough for them to respond to a film.

The reason I bring them up is to put Wonder Woman's popularity into context, because popularity and box office potential are big factors in whether or not a character gets a movie. The movies would be compared anyway.

wonder woman is an incredibly recognizable character. almost as much as superman and batman. far lesser characters have turned out films.

Wonder Woman is a much more recognizable character than Thor and Iron Man were before the movies.

But does she really mean anything to people anyway?

Because who else outside of the hardcore Wonder Woman fandom gives a **** about her?

so? they know and recognize wonder woman as a hero, thats plenty enough for them to respond to a film.

She isn't iconic.

wonder woman is an incredibly recognizable character. almost as much as superman and batman. far lesser characters have turned out films.

Yes, but which were good? Some characters (like Batman & Superman), translate to well-received films a lot better than others. I just don't see what Wonder Woman brings to the cinematic table for a general audience.

Wonder Woman is a much more recognizable character than Thor and Iron Man were before the movies.

True, but keep in mind that Marvel had sold off their more iconic properties prior to that point. If Marvel hadn't sold the rights to Spider-Man and X-Men, then Iron Man and Thor would have never seen the big screen, much like many DC properties at Warner Bros..

But does she really mean anything to people anyway?

yes.

apparently only ignorant feminists :whatever:

She isn't iconic.

seriously? dude....um....your wrong.

action, adventure, super powered heroics, drama, fun, compelling mythology, female empowerment, etc....you know, all of the things that have made her an important and enduring icon since the 1940's.

OK. What does she mean to people?

apparently only ignorant feminists :whatever:

Well, what demographics does Wonder Woman appeal to?

seriously? dude....um....your wrong.

Being known isn't the same as being iconic.

action, adventure, super powered heroics, drama, fun, compelling mythology, female empowerment, etc....you know, all of the things that have made her an important and enduring icon since the 1940's.

Enduring, maybe. But important? Hell no.

do you really not understand that Wonder Woman is one of the most recognizable characters in comic book history?

Yes, I do. I was saying that the conditions at Marvel which led to films like IRON MAN and THOR, doesn't exist with DC. Warner Brothers has there hands on all the DC characters, but Marvel doesn't. If Marvel Studios had the rights to Spider-Man and X-Men, then you wouldn't have seen the Iron Man and Thor movies. But Warner Brothers does have their hands on Batman and Superman, so there's a lot less need for films about Wonder Woman or Flash when the former two can make a lot more money. Wonder Woman especially gets the short end of the stick, because there isn't as much of an audience for superheroines as there is superheroes.

OK. What does she mean to people?

the same as most other heroes, such as superman and batman.

im not basing it on her being known. her status as a pop culture icon has long been cemented. you'd be ignorant to suggest otherwise.

Enduring, maybe. But important? Hell no.

you just really know nothing of the character do you?

Yes, I do. I was saying that the conditions at Marvel which led to films like IRON MAN and THOR, doesn't exist with DC. Warner Brothers has there hands on all the DC characters, but Marvel doesn't. If Marvel Studios had the rights to Spider-Man and X-Men, then you wouldn't have seen the Iron Man and Thor movies. even if you want to believe this extremely flawed statement....it doesnt change the fact that wonder woman is still one of the most recognized comic heroes of all time.

seriously though, if you're not into the character, thats totally cool. it would explain you're lack of understanding of her character, importance, and potential. and that too, is entirely cool. but to sit here and deny the importance of her role in the history of comics, and deny her iconographic status in pop culture....you just look like an ignorant fool.
