Who should direct Green Lantern 2?

^I doubt Bird would be up for it, after the mega success of M:I4, he can get his hands on almost any script he wants, doubt he would go for a sequel to a poorly recieved movie.

For me, Francis Lawrence would be the perfect pick for GL2, he has done sci-fi with I Am Legend, done comic-book movies with Constantine, both movies had good character scene's and excellent visuals which are essential for a GL movie. And he has worked a lot with effects and worked with WB before, I think he would be perfect.

The director should be able to handle numerous CGI effects shots, something which Campbell found difficult.

We have to be realistic. If this movie gets a sequel, it's not going to be helmed by somebody who can pick any movie he wants.
However, this doesn't necessatily mean the movie'll go to some Pitof-style hack. Witha bit of luck, we'll get a young up and comer who's hungry to prove himself. Now josh Trank (Chronicle) has all but ruled out those FF rumours, I think he'd be good fit.

^Thats why I think Francis Lawrence would be perfect, he has only done 3 movies, and has worked with extensive effects before.

^I think he would be perfect, he has done a CB movie, and a sci-fi movie, and worked extensively with effects and WB, he would be literally perfect. Surprised they didnt get him for the first movie.

I think Francis Lawrence would be a good choice though I think they could try someone like Gareth Edwards who did a great job with 'Monsters'. Part of the problem with GL was that it was always gonna struggle to make back its huge budget. Edwards could probably make the sequel for a fraction of the originals budget and make it look better IMO.

Brad Bird (MI:4, The Incredibles) or Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code).

Those are my top choices.

The guy has no experience with big budgets though, that would be my worry and I think he may be a little overwhelmed going from Monsters to something like this. I know Campbell has worked with big budgets but he has never done Sci-fi which is why he was a totally wrong fit for this.

A valid point but none of Nolan's previous films had massive budgets but Warners took a risk on him and the rest is Bat-history.

That's why I think JJ Abrams would be good. He is doing the new Star Trek, and major effects heavy stuff like super8 and cloverfield, and more was a producer of lost (first three seasons were phenomenal). Plus he did MI 3 which was a nice rebound after that horrendous number 2 (1,4,3,2 is my order of favor)

I think he would find it a good challenge to bring GL to the screen the right way.

I know it's more of a pipe-dream because of said Star Trek and whatnot, but still, I think he would be ideal and DC should find a way to get it done.
