who thinks spider-man 2 is the best?

Iron Man and Spider-Man 2 are definitely the best of the Marvel movies. But The Dark Knight trumps them both, IMO.
For sure. SM2 being the best of Marvel, and TDK the best of DC. Oh, and TDK is the best overall.

It is highly regarded as the greatest super hero movie of all time. It had one of the best baddies to ever grace the big screen, Doctor Octopus, no thanks to a marvelous job from Alfred Molina. A wonderful preformance from Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker as we see his struggle to lead a normal life. Truly a pitch perfect representation of Peter's character. Some great CGI, especially during the web-slinging scenes, which I believe is the greatest veiw on how Spider-Man's web-swinging should be. Nothing else in other forms of media have captured it as so. I believe the most advanced CGI chip at the time was used for SM2. Excellent fight scenes also, the train sequence being most notible.

Parcially adaptating The Amazing Spider--Man # 50, in which may very well be my favorite scene from the entire trilogy, taken straight from a page from this issue is Peter leaving his costume in the trash in an alley. This scene is done perfectly, just love the atmosphere of it.

Now that my rant is over, your thoughts on the movie, or more specifically, do you think it is the best of the trilogy?

It still holds my top spot, even in the wake of the much-loved Batman revival.

I do, Spider-Man 2 is my favorite Spidey flick!!! Plus its my favorite comic movie.

As Spider-man movies go, it is by far the best. I said in 2004, it was going to be a tough act to follow based on how supreme it was, and that ended up being way too true.

I think if everyone comes back for Nolan Batman 3, it could face similar problems based on how popular and good The Dark Knight is.

If Nolan is left to his own devices, he could easily make a movie to mach the quality of TDK. Raimi could have done the same with SM-3 if the studio heads had not interfered.

SM-2 is still waiting for a worthy sequal, IMO. I hope SM-4 delivers it.

I still think a potential DC of Spidey 3 could blow everything else out of the water

Yep... Warner Bros needs to back off a bit (which to be fair they have been doing for the past two movies)... and let Nolan do his thing.

No doubt... Fans will over-hype it... praise the ground Nolan walks on... get too excited... and then disappointed because it was not the movie they seen in their heads.

I say... let Raimi breathe a little more for part 4 and see were he takes it.

Exactly, the fanbase and film studios killed SM3. I say, just leave Raimi and Co. alone, and everything will be fine.

BACK ON TOPIC...
I just watched the movie again. It still rocks. I still find it vastly superior to anything else the genre has to offer.

I watched Spider-man 2 for the 1st time in about a year yesterday and I must say it is STILL my favorite comic book movie even after viewing it after TDK. The reason I like it more is simply because it acknowledges itself as a comic book film. SM2 is proud to be a comic book film with crazy action, great dialogue, and a damn good story. The train fight is still better then ANY other action scene I've seen in the past 15 years. TDK tries so hard NOT to be a comic film that it's kind of, well, not fun. I love TDK to death, I really do, but SM2 is still king in my book.

Nice way of putting it. I too love The Dark Knight, but I don't know, if I had to choose between the two, I think I'd pick SM2. However, I'm worried about that because I'm a die-hard Spidey fan.

I feel the same way you do. I love Batman and I thought the Dark Knight was a masterpiece, but I will always rank Spider-man 2 as the best superhero film. Being a Spidey fanatic makes me biased,I'm sure, but also because Spidey 2 just seems more fun,I guess. Both are the best Marvel and DC have to offer I'll tell ya.:spidey::brucebat:

Love all these points you two brought up; I have the exact same views.

I don't know, when I think of Spider-Man 2, the part that immediately pops in my head is "He's Back" from the Jameson office scene to the falling off of the tower, it just seems so perfect, and majestic.

I like the first one the best.. then the third and the second is actually my least favorite. As I've said before I didn't really like Molina as Doc Ock.. but I guess I just need to rewatch it.. its been forever.

All three sucked, TM was good in the first one, Dunce sucked in all three, part three was the most idiotic of all three, and in 2 the train scene was good until everyone saw Spidey's face, ummmm no.

TDK
IM
BB
The Hulk

My top 4, let the flaming begin.

I'm not going to flame you for having an opinion. But I do agree with you that Spider-Man 3 is the worst one. Absolute garbage. And Dunst was uninspiring in all three movies. She just looks bored in the role, and puts no enthusiasm into her performance.

when I think of SM2, the part that comes to mind is that one after the final battle. Peter is looking MJ from that crane, and she is with Jon. Peter puts the mask on, looks one last time for her and swings away. the music in the background made it even more touching and epic. this is the greatest moment of the trilogy, for me.

I fully agree.

Did anyone catch Empire Magazine's top 500 movie list? Spider-Man 2 made it into the early 400's. Spider-Man 1 was in the mid to late 400's.

While the atrocious Spider-Man 3 didn't make it onto the list at all.
